My husband and I stayed at the Blue Moon to celebrate our wedding anniversary this past December. When confirming our reservation over the phone, I told the gentleman at the front desk that we were celebrating our anniversary and he said that he would "upgrade our room". When we arrived, the hotel looked charming from the outside. The lobby was also very nice, keeping in the Mediterranean style. The staff was friendly and we were pleased. At least we were pleased until we got to our room. The route to the room showed that the rest of the hotel was not in good repair. We were led through narrow hallways of cracked, peeling plaster and dirty carpets that were heavily sprayed with a baby-powder scented freshener to mask the smell. Our "upgraded" room was clean, but looked nothing at all like the photos. It was very small and smelled of paint thinner and it was adjoined to another room that was being worked on. In addition to the horrible chemical smell, there were two maintenance men loudly working on the room. We called downstairs and were moved to another room, with even worse smelling carpets in the halls. The bed was old and full of springs, the heat did not work and you could hear a ton of street noise at night (I can't imagine how loud it would be in the prime season) There is no on-site parking at the hotel, so we had the choice of valet parking or walking a few blocks to the garage ourselves. The difference in price was only a few dollars, so we went for the valet service. We were told that we needed to give the front desk 15-20 minutes lead time to get our car. We called down 25 minutes before we wanted to leave and the girl at the desk told us that it would be an hour before we got our car (keep in mind that the hotel was not busy at all and this was the off-season) I told her that we were told that we only needed to give the front desk 15-20 minutes lead time and she told me, "Oh no, you need to give us at least an hour". We had to go to the front desk and speak with the manager, which got our car brought up within the 25 minute time frame. Although the staff seemed friendly enough, no one seemed to be on the same page and the service was just not there. The pictures are way more appealing than the hotel actually is, so save yourself the trouble and book elsewhere.

The Blue Moon is a wonderful Art Deco boutique hotel in the heart of the South Beach restored area. The hotel is very close to entertainment and restaurants, but remains tranquil thanks to its location on Collins Ave - 2 short blocks from the beach. The cozy bar and patio are relaxing. Daily breakfast,WiFi internet and pool amenities are available for a $10 resort fee (free drink coupons for the bar were included, so it's not a bad deal). The hotel is a block from the bus stop that allows for easy access to shopping, eating and enterainment on Lincoln Rd. and Esplanola Way, and the bus goes all the way to Aventura Mall if you have a bad-weather day.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Blue Moon Hotel. As soon as I walked in the door, I was immediately greeted by staff. The staff went out of their way to accomodate any need I might have. I was very interested in the nightlife Miami had to offer and the staff was able to give me suggestions of where to go and how to save money while being down there. The rooms were comfortable and it was great for the price I paid. I wish the pool was a little bigger but other than that, I definitely recommend this hotel to others.

My wife and I stayed at the Blue Moon during Christmas vacation. The price was fair, the service decent, and our room was very clean. But, most of all, the location was excellent....one block from the beach and very close to the popular shopping districts. I would definitely recommend this hotel for those who plan to be out and about most of the time. If, however, you're looking for luxurious rooms with amazing views, you'll want to look at the pricier hotels on the beach.

The Blue Moon was a great place for my teenage daughter and me. Short walks to the beach and upscale shopping, all types of restaurants. It's a couple of blocks from the noisier restaurants and clubs. The hotel seemed recently renovated, but they left most of the 1920's-1930's charm. The staff was friendly and competent-- though a little laid back and not as professional as some visitors might prefer. Great continental breakfast (try the yogurt, granola and fresh strawberries) and covered outdoor seating area with a tiny pool.
