If you're looking to be right in the heart of South Beach, you wont find a better spot then staying at the Avalon. The Ocean is just steps away from the hotel and everything is pretty much within walking distance from the hotel. My wife and I walked the entire area from Ocean to Collins to Lincoln almost everyday. Shopping and places to dine surround the hotel but meals on Ocean Drive with drinks can get pricey because everywhere adds gratuity in upfront so be prepared. The hotel itself was nice. It's an older hotel but it had it's charms and the staff was very friendly to us our entire stay. We had an Ocean view room and it can be noisy for some people come nighttime if you stay in one. Ocean Drive seems to party well into 4-5am and you'll hear the hustle & bustle from outside if you're not prepared for it. I wouldn't say this would be the place if you were looking for a quiet secluded get-away. If you stay at the Avalon you're looking to be apart of the nightlife on South Beach and the convenient access to the beach. Overall the hotel wasn’t too bad as mentioned by some reviewers. It’s not 100% new modern luxury but it’s not a complete dive either. I recommend it if you’re looking to be at South Beach 24/7 because you wont go wrong.

We stayed in this hotel over the 4th of July weekend. The hotel is in a great location, the room was clean and the european breakfast every day was good. Â There isn't a pool onsite but the beach was so beautiful, we didn't even miss a pool. Â The first night we had a room without a beach view - it was soooo quiet. Â When we had a beach view, there was noise from the street at night; however, we were still able to sleep. Â

I stayed here for my birthday weekend during Ultra Festival. Check in was difficult bc the rooms aren't available til 3 and they don't call you, you have to call them every hour. We get to the room and it was nice! Really comfy beds and pretty nice bathrooms. Nothing special though! They also have A Fish Called Avalon restaurant which is really nice and a free breakfast that you wont wake up for lol... The location is at 7th and Ocean and it's RIGHT across the street from the South Beach Action!! I only recommend this hotels for friends and solo. Not couples unless they are young couples.

It was disappointing when the hotel room was nothing like the picture. Our view was an alley and the wall of the next building. There were workers making noise throughout the day in the alley. The room was so cluttered with furniture it was difficult to move around. The customer service was of poor quality. We asked for an extra blanket and it was never brought to us. Two days in a row we had to ask for additional towels because they would never leave enough for four people. Then we had to wait a long time for the towels to be delivered. A couple of times we had to stand at the front desk and wait for hotel staff to assist us because there was no one at the desk. I would not recommend the Avalon Hotel to any of my friends/family.
