First impression, our room was tiny, well decorated, excellent view from the 6th floor, quiet and very clean. The queen bed was too soft and sunk in the middle. Room service was excellent along with the meals from the hotel. Cab driver charged $ 16.00 and some change from the Ronald Reagan Airport and $ 6.00 to the Verizon Center, both were fair prices. The best hop on hop off tour was Onboard Siteseeing provided inside of the hotel, they picked us up and returned us to our hotel. It was a 6 hour tour, all of Washington DC and into Virginia for the Iwo Jima usmc memorial, arlinton cemetery and for lunch at the pentagon mall. Overall, we had an excellent time.

  • Service was great.

  • Many "extra" touches; terrific value

I booked a spur of the moment DC getaway with my seven year-old daughter, and was looking for a basic hotel room in a good location for a reasonable price. After an online search of several options I was pleasantly surprised to find what seemed a very good value given the location. This hotel was central to everything I wanted to see: reasonable (less than 1.5 mile) walks to the White House, most of the monuments, the Mall, and several other neighborhoods that I enjoy in DC, and a short (6 minute) walk to the Metro to get me to more distant locations (or for when our feet got tired or the weather didn't cooperate.)) The pool was a very nice bonus; my daughter really enjoyed it, and the poolside bar allowed me to relax with a cold drink after a long day while she swam before bed. What surprised and impressed me the most, though, was a lot of little extras that many hotels don't include, and a culture that seemed to go the extra mile to make guests feel welcome, relaxed, and appreciated. The attitude of all the staff, from the bell staff to the front desk to the housekeepers to the restaurant waiters was upbeat and accommodating without feeling pretentious. Small details like free internet, turn-down service with nightly delivery of two water bottles "with our compliments", an in-room refrigerator, and scented soaps added to this impression. Parking rates for downtown in a major city were very reasonable at $35 for valet and $25 for self-park. (I personally really appreciate having the self-park option, as it makes it easy to run to your car to store or retrieve items and saves the wait for the car and the necessity of extra tipping every time you go out. I have stayed at many equivalent hotels that do not provide this option.) The rooms were clean and unremarkable; standard fare. The tub drain did not hold water well, so my bath (to soak those tired legs) got aborted due to the noise of the gurgling water. The restaurant dinner was adequate, though service was excellent. On our last morning I discovered that they have a daily breakfast buffet, with the options of a continental selection or the full buffet including an omelette station, belgian waffles, pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausage; this was a very nice surprise on a Tuesday morning, and very reasonable with half price for kids. Overall it was a great value and an outstanding find, and I would definitely stay there again on future visits to DC!
