My recent stay at the Washington Plaza Hotel in Washington DC was a very pleasant experience. The hotel was located close enough to the attractions that you didn't feel completely detached from the DC experience, yet distant enough so that you were able to get away from the hub of business and tourists to enjoy a peaceful atmosphere in a lovely residential neighborhood complete with all the amenities of a residential communty like public tranportation, laundermat, supermarket, church and restaurants. It was a beautiful neighborhood and the hotel was also beautiful and very clean and well supervised. The on-site restaurant is very good so is the cocktail lounge. My ONLY request would have been to have a pool time designated exclusively for adult swim, perhaps the last hour before closing. I love children, but it would have been nice to have some time for the adults to sit by the pool, socialize, have adult conversation, perhaps a poolside cocktail for those who wish to do so and just have down time. The children can have the pool all the rest of the day to enjoy themselves as well.--Loved this hotel

Parking cost was outrageous. We had an F-150 pick-up so had to use the valet lot

Its a long walk to the monuments. didnt try the subway so can't comment on that. the hotel itself was probably glamourous in the 70's- 80's. the pool was awesome, I heard there arent many outdoor pools in DC. (it was 90 degrees when we visited!) the beds were comfy, the pillows the best! the bathroom, well the tub was peeling paint or whatever covering it had, but it didn't bother me. also the "dressing room" was carpeted which usually bothers me, but it didn't. i felt very comfortable, safe and at home. i got a good deal so was super happy all and all. cons are- no concierge that i noticed, (valets are helpful and nice) cons, the tub was peeling (but otherwise very clean) and the walking distance... otherwise loved it!!! note... public transportation abounds, we just like to walk.. (and there is the "circulator" which was renamed the "perspirator"- it was 90!- which gets you to a lot of places for 1.00)

The hotel and the stay was great, a short walk to The Mall and all the attractions. After walking all day it was great that it was so close. The rooms were modern and they offered complimentary water bottles! The beds were a little small though, but I didn't care after walking all day. BEWARE THE PARKING: it is $25 a night plus 18% parking tax so $29.50. Parking garages (like the one next to the Ford Theater) offer parking on the weekend days for only $11 (all day). It is not complimentary and everyone has to pay it according to the staff. Also no free breakfast
