Despite it's four-star rating, our experience was horrible. From the start we dealt with a $* fee for valet parking which was followed by rude employees during our check-in process. Our room was nice in size but a lamp, the radio, and the telephone did not work. On top of that when we tried to order a movie, the system did not work. When the repairman came to fix it, he reset the entire system which disabled our remote. So not only could we not order a movie but we also had a broken remote. The worst though was trying to deal with the concierge who apparently seemed very upset that we wanted to buy tickets for a bus tour. I have never had such a horrible experience at a hotel.

We wanted a nice hotel to use as home base for sight seeing in DC, and this one looked good on the web. Very much not impressed. The staff was cheerful and helpful, but the room was dirty (someone's hair on the bathroom wall, and a dirty sock still in the closet), noisy, and very dark. There was a 1 inch gap under the door of our room, so we could hear every conversation as people walk by. The parking was full so we had no choice but to use the valet at $* per parking. Mentioning the low quality of the room did get them to comp the parking fee, so at least we didn't wind up paying that, although a less out-going couple would have would up getting bilked out of the $*. All in all, the room was a total waste. We should have went with the St. Regis or one of the little boutique hotels. My second disappointment from Starwood Hotels in this month. Won't be staying here again, at any price.

After reading some of the reviews on this website I was qustioning the conditions of the hotel. People said it was old, outdated, and the room service was lacking. From a couple that stays in hotel's to visit locations rather then emaculate 4 and 5 star hotels for accomidations this hotel was MORE then satisfying. I dont understand what else you would need in a hotel! The rooms were spectacular. The beds were amazingly comfortable, and the bathrooms were nicer then any average hotel. The rooms were always clean and tidy and the service all around was amazing. We got in late thursday night so they only charged us for one day Vallet Parking, plus we had left clothes in the car which the Vallet attendent was more then happy to get. The front desk was very helpful on multiple occasions and checking in and out was a breeze. For a 4 star hotel at $* bucks we could not have been happier. I would recommend this hotel (and have to 4 other people who are staying there this weekend) anytime you visit DC because of its supurb location and great service. Side Notes: If your a active couple who likes to walk you could hit the White House in under 5 minutes, and the mall in 10. Breakfast is not served at the hotel...but just outside there is a plethera of local cafe's. (They are all closed on the weekends which is baffeling but the chain cafe's remained opened) The metro is 2 blocks away and make sure you get a fare card. When you get a room, ask for a street view. They have darkened curtains so you dont have to worry about the light but you do get to see the city.
