Ok Hotel, Not Great

My husband & I were really excited to schedule a stay at the Sheraton. We requested an ocean view and paid the extra $40 per night. Upon arrival, our ocean view was that of the highway with a glimpse of the beach off in the distance. The room was noisy (could hear traffic). Our suite included 2 T.V.'s but only 1 worked. Woke up in the middle of the night to turn up the air conditioner. Looked EVERYWHERE. Couldn't find it. Called the front desk and was told that the thermostat was located BEHIND the T.V. Go figure. Then, when we attempted to schedule a cab for our early morning flight out (shuttles aren't available until 9am), the front desk said to call back 15 minutes before you need to leave and they'll have a cab ready. Lastly, the beds are very high. My husband is 6ft tall and had to hop into the bed at night and jump down in the morning. To be fair, our waitress at the cafe' (Dale) was very pleasant and helpful. Monroe at the front desk was extremely nice & informative upon check-in.

I really liked the Hotel and the rooms. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The hotel is convenient to Smather's Beach and was nice and quiet but not convenient to sight seeing, restaurants, or other activities. There is nothing close so walking somewhere for food is not an option. We used the pool and ate at the restaurant once. The pool was nice and clean and the food at the restaurant was good but pricey. Also, one night we were told that it would be an hour wait and you cannot order food at the bar. This was a major inconvenience the first night there. I know that the Hotel had a shuttle that went downtown but I was very glad that I had a car for convenience. I would recommend this hotel for families but if you want to know something, you have to ask. I read that there was a free breakfast and spa services but don't know where it was or if there really was one. There was no information in the room.

The hotel and staff were great but I have only one complaint. When housekeeping came in to remove the trash from the trash cans, they also threw away our souvenir cups from the counter in which we wanted to save, and the towels that I had hanging on the rack and counter. I think they should only remove items in the trash and not on tables or counters. Other than that everything and everyone was nice and helpful.

I'm suffering still from more than hundreds of bed bug bites all over my body. I complained about it to a hotel staff and nothing was done about it. Just woke up the next morning after a sleepless night of itching and feeling creepy crawly stuff all over me with just more bites. Very disappointed with the hotel, especially after not resolving the issue.
