Check-in was fast and friendly. Lobby was lovely. Our room on the 21st floor had a lovely view of the Chrysler Building. Location was next to Grand Central Station-great for catching the subway to sights and for meals. Also within walking distance of Times Square and the New York Public Library. Staff was very friendly and helpful with directions, etc. The room was small but nice.

I stayed in a suite in this hotel for my wife's birthday. Location! Location! Location! Adjoined to Grand Central Station. Walking distance to Times Square (8 blocks), Rockefeller Center (10 blocks) and the Empire State Building (10 blocks). The hotel is in good not great condition, and food and services come with a steep price (but the name Grand Hyatt implies that). Hotel is surrounded by clothes stores and plenty of restaurants nearby (quite a few inside Grand Central Station. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would stay again and would advise others to stay if you can get a good deal. i got a $*** suite for $***.

The Hyatt was home base for a three-day excursion by foot throughout NYC. We were especially pleased with the comfortable bed after long days of walking. Mike the concierge was very helpful in his directions and suggestions. It's a big New York hotel though, so don't expect handholding, then again, are needs were pretty basic. A comfortable place to sleep and relax. The categories I marked down were tied to the fact that the hallways weren't always spiffed up and that they had no access to a computer or a business center to speak of to simply print off airline boarding passes or emails sent to me regarding venues to visit, etc.

I found the location to be very convenient, being next to Grand Central Station. You have easy access to all parts of the city. If you were interested in being uptown, or Times Square, and not interested in other sites, then this convenience wouldn't mean as much I found the desk staff to be quite helpful. The room we had reserved with 2 double beds was not available at check in (around 10 PM). They gave us a larger room with a king bed plus a food and beverage voucher for the inconvenience. I found this to be a very reasonable response, and that they were helpful in all our other needs as well. The room was clean, larger than I expected, and all the facilities were nice. The lobby is large and impressive. Food at the hotel was expensive, and there are better choices right down the street. Overall a good choice for families or sight seeing trips. Not the best for a romantic weekend, as there are many more intimate hotels in town.
