Horrible experience- beware!

Room extremely small and cramped, bathroom filthy (dried blood on shower curtain, stains on floor), pillowcases all smelled like dirty hair, and TV no less than 15 years old. Terrible experience; this is no more than a 2 star hotel AT BEST.

Hotel room was extremely small, shower curtain had dried blood on it, entire room was dirty, and all pillows smelled like dirty hair. Room was old and dirty. TV was at least 20 years old. Would not stay here again; charged a high price for a one star room.

We stayed here two nights.. Jan 22 & 23, 2010. The first day into DC we arrived in the morning and had meetings all day and were tired, but had a friend who had accompanied us and lives in DC. We were all hungry and she went with us to our hotel. We intended to look for a place to eat near there. It was late.. around 8 pm when we arrived at the hotel . ..there was a full menu available in the Hilton and we had excellent food.. We enjoyed a meal with our friend then she went off to catch the metro. The next day we had a great full buffet breakfast.. walked to and then around the white house area.. and then went to an afternoon and evening event. Sunday we again had a full breakfast buffet... great service.. and left for the airport. Our room was clean, well appointed, comfortable bed. It was a wonderful stay... even elegant! We didn't know it cost $* to valet our car. So the second night (a Sat night) we used street parking. .. which worked out fine, but wouldn't have been possible on a week night.

Upon entering the Capitol Hilton we new were about to have an enjoyable experience. From the courteous valet attendants (albeit kind of pricey-$40 to park) to the very helpful desk clerk and ultra-resourceful concierge; all of theses things were top notch. Our room, situated on the 5th floor, was a sight to see. Two very clean queen sized beds with pillows that felt like clouds, according to our nine year old son and a decent corner view. The only issue with the room was the lack of hot water in the shower and the t.v. and entertainment on the t.v. was slightly oiut of date, but that didn't matter since I like a room to sleep comfortably in. The staff was friendly and courteous, always there to answer any question or need which may have arisen. I noticed a few reviews about a lack of "kid-friendliness" - I find this untrue and unfair because these reviewers problably had kids who mis-behaved or needed an arcade to keep them occupied. My nine year old loved it and was treated very well by the truly friendly staff. Iwould stay again and again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will completely agree with the most recent reviews. The hotel was clean, comfortable and VERY convienient to the DC attractions! A business center was available downstairs and wifi (14$) was available in the room. For the price we paid we could not have gotten a better hotel! Our only complaints were that the hotel seemed to have been taken over by very, very immature college students for New Years eve and the hotel staff was VERY slow to deal with the noise problem. I don´t have a problem with the hotel serving the "kids" but for goodness sake if you have to send security (at 4:30 am) to a room more than three times for noise complaints try a DIFFERENT tactic and AT LEAST appologize for the inconvienience. Considering this was only one night of our stay, I wont complain further and just give 2 (very noisy) thumbs up. I would stay again.
