The good news was that the bed was clean and comfortable. The rest is negative: there were greasy fingerprints on the furniture that were never cleaned off. The bathroom was not clean. The hall was dirty. The check in staff and housekeeping staff was polite but the bartender (the bar being contiguous with the lobby) was rude and slightly menacing. The place needs a lot of work and service lessons. It is a place I would avoid every time in Orlando.

This hotel used to be a Double Tree. The hotel is fairly nice; however, it seems as if that niceness looms from the hotel chain it used to belong to. I am not sure if I would stay in it a couple years down the road. The wireless internet is free, with a catch. You have to use the internet in the lobby for it to be free. If you want to use it in your room, it is $10 a day. Also, there is no mention of a safe charge, but when you check out ,you get hit with one ($1.60 a day). I found the concept of having to pay to ensure my belongings were safe unusual. The safe is also too small to fit a standard 15" laptop. I would rather not be nickel and dimed. I would rather just know what I am going to pay up front. All in all, it was not bad for the price. I have stayed at hotels of comparable luxury in Orlando that do not charge for their amenities. I would probably not stay at this hotel again.

Orlando Vista great for families with young children
04/08/2008The location is excellent (less than 10 minutes to disney and universal) 5 minute walk to 10 restaurants

The value is excellent (we had 7 people 2 rooms for $130 a night)
The amenities are good (pool, common areas, everything was neat and tidy and in good working order.)
For kids 4-11, check out a kid's suite
The staff is great (friendly and helpful from booking to checkout)
We will go back and we will book the Vista again. If you are looking for opulence and luxury look somewhere else and add a zero to the bill. The Vista is about value and getting the most bang for your buck. -

I booked online for what I considered a great rate ($72/day). Make sure you print your rates and itinerary (I don't think their online booking system is very good or up to date). I had changed my plans some and feared my rate wouldn't be honored as nothing was current in their computer. Anyway, the king suite was nice. My teenage son slept on the unfolding couch. The pool was huge. Epcot was 10 minutes away, parking lot to parking lot, nearly as close as the expensive hotels. There's virtually no food inside but plenty nearby (IHOP, D n D, BK and a decent , inexpensive local steak place across the street). If you want complaints: there was one small elevator for 6 floors which could've been challenging if the hotel was maxed out. Clean, roomy, inexpensive and good location.
