Bottom line is the old plumbing overrides any of the pros I considered in choosing this hotel. When my neighbors took their showers (at 11:00 pm) the banging of the pipes was intolerable. The man at the front desk was rude and irritable when I called to address the problem. Next morning, my own choices for my shower temp were cold or scalding hot.

  • Highly recommended

Booked this room on a suggestion from a friend. Best choice! Room was very clean and had plenty of sleeping accomodations - room was for 3 ppl. Centrally located in Manhatten - many popular sites all within walking distance. Plenty of restaurants nearby and a wide variety of entertainment. Not only do I highly recommend the Hotel Wolcott, I plan on returning soon myself.

  • In general, we received a good service in this Hotel. It was a nice experience.

If you're on a tight budget but would still like to have hotel comforts, Wolcott is a valid option to consider. You get what you need as a tourist on the go - since you're out of the room most of the day in any case. Don't expect extreme luxury, neither gourmet food nor high tech room fittings - but do expect to save some cash to spend elsewhere in the city. Don't waste time with the muffins presented to you in the morning, and don't bother with the little tourist shop in the hotel. A short walk down the road has some better value. Recommended as a value for money stay, although don't go if you're going to want to lounge in your room for hours (who does that in NYC!)

  • Great value though room not perfect.

The lobby is beautifully restored. The location phenomenal. We needed to have a little patience with the room. The water in the shower was difficult to adjust. But when we mentioned it to the front clerk they said they could easily fix it. We never bothered calling. The room was drafty but we were in NYC during extreme cold so perhaps it was unfair to judge. The radiator at times would make a lot of noise. We called to ask to have it fixed. It was hard to tell if they every worked on it or not. The concierges were extremely helpful. There was coffee and muffins available in the morning. Overall a fabulous value if you are willing to put up with some small problems.
