We enjoyed our stay at the IC Barclay hotel in late January, 2011. Good value through the travel agency deal -- not much more than staying overnight in any Midwestern city. Pros--Wonderful old style New York lobby, with couches and fresh flowers. Great people watching. Excellent location. Four blocks from Lexington-53rd subway stop, and an equal distance from Grand Central Station. Very clean, comfortable room. Lovely soft bed with puffy covers. Nice staff. Helpful bell station. Quiet--although we recommend asking for the backside of the hotel, not the side on Lexington Ave. We heard nothing furing the night. Con--Small bathroom, but that's not unexpected in NYC. Restaurant--we didn't eat there, but found the bar prices on the high side. On the other hand, a glass of wine will cost you $13 just about anywhere in NYC. Overall--We'll go back.

My daughter and I stayed at the Intercontinental Barclay in November while on a college visit trip. We chose this hotel based on price. It was a good deal. Location is great...close to Grand Central. The lobby of the hotel is gorgeous, staff helpful and polite. The room was typical for NYC...enough room for two. We did have to ask for blankets. I don't think the room had been used since the summer months. The clock had not been changed and the beds only had a sheet. They brought up blankets when asked quickly. The bathroom was tough to manage....only a pedestal sink and no place to set anything down. The beds were okay. The only place to get free internet access was in the lobby.

I booked a stay here for a leisure weekend and found the hotel to be really nice. The room was small which was fine until my sister spent a night there with me! The bathroom was teeny-tiny (standing room only) which made it nearly impossible for the two of us to get ready for dinner at the same time. The check in was easy, the housekeeping staff was polite and bellman was nice. The lobby definitely was not the place to be, a lot of suits, not jet setters! All in all, I would stay here again if traveling alone. I must not forget the complimentary fruit plate and bottled water that was waiting for me in my room upon check in. Perfect after a long day of traveling!

I and my family were 1 night guests at InterContinental Barclay New York on October 1 and October 2. When I left I have paid $ and I was told that I dont owe anything else. After 4 days they charged my credit card additional $ I made a call and I was told that bartender visited my room after I left and that he realized that I have drink some beverages. I told them that it is not truth and that they are making things up; also, if you take anything from the bar system will automatically charge your account. Person from the billing department said immediately that he will refund the money. Be careful with this hotel; I believe that they apply fake charges to everybody and they are giving money back only to those who find out later by looking into credit card statement and call them for explanation.
