An elegant hotel in a prime location in Manhattan. I echo some comments about check in lines too long, only 4 out of10 check in counters were manned and it took a 20 minute wait to check in. Staff was very pleasant and professional, especially if you keep their palms well greased with $1 and $5. In hotel Bull and Bear restaurant mediocre, try Smith and Wollensky a block away. Overpriced room service with multiple charges tacked on the bill, the food was great though. Has the best brunch I have ever seen. We had to wait 1.5 hours for the bellmen to pick up our bags when we checked out. Internet $19 a day! Will go somewhere else next time in NYC

I booked this hotel because of the history sense and location. It did serve the purpose. However, I didn't expect the hotel service to be this poor for a 4.5 start hotel. I think it's due to the management. For example, the check in-out line was quite long while there were extra counter available to be staffed. The most outragous was we waited for almost two hours before we could get our car even thought the hotel said 30 minutes. We are talking about daily park rate of $60.

Staff friendly, room was large and comfortable, beds are way too soft (backache next day) -- hot water and heat shut off from 11p - 6a -- in October !? didnt plan on that ! Ususally stay at the Roosevelt but thought I would try something different and close to Grand Central -- overall a decent experience

This was overall a good experience. The room amenities were nice but the carpet had some stains. Comfortable bed, nice size television and ample seating. The bath was updated but a little small for this price hotel. I would recommend to others.
