    I stayed here for 7 nights in early March 2013. A week before my arrival I sent an email with some special requests, the hotel responded and acknowledged my request. I few days before my arrival I called with these same requests, again, acknowledged, etc. Upon check-in, no one knew of my requests and it seemed a waste of time since the reception seems to not care about their guests or. The first room I was given was dated, old, decaying and not adequate, I went to the lobby and the only option was to upgrade to a double room. They would not budge from the $70 upgrade fee, so I agreed as I had no choice. My second room 410 was a newly renovated double room. This room could have been in a $500 a night hotel. It was an epic room. Everything new and clean, cable that worked, great hallways and overall a better overall caliber room. I was very happy we upgraded. My review in a nutshell, if you have a standard room because this was the best deal in NYC, your room will look like it. If you are lucky enough to get a renovated new room, grats, you got lucky. Dont expect the smanagement or reception people to do or remember or do anything to make your stay special, they are don't care and just treat you like sheep. Bell guys are good, friendly, and helpful. Housekeeping was awesome. Desk personel and management we're bad.

    The location of the Wellington Hotel was exquisite. For anyone who wants to be near downtown NYC yet far enough to avoid some of the crowd, this is the hotel for you. I would however recommend that you look for a larger room at the hotel. The room my fiance and I stayed in was rather small and compact. It was nice for us, but not the roomiest room I've slept in.

    I visited the Wellington with a group of friends on a short trip into the city. We were all shocked because the quality of the room and service was so much better than what we were expecting. We originally booked a room with 2 double beds, and ended up getting upgraded to a suite with a king bed, a room with 2 double beds, and a kitchen. They also upgraded us to a newly renovated section of the hotel, and everything in the suite looked new and pristine. The bell hop was also really helpful when we needed to keep our stuff in a holding room for a few hours. I would recommend The Wellington to anyone who's planning a short trip into the city, as the only downside is the hotel does not offer free Wi-Fi.
