I visited Sept. 3-6, 2008. Although this is a very nice hotel, tastefully decorated and a short walk from the Convention Center, there is construction going on right next door. Although I was told they were supposed to start at 7am, they started at 6:30 the first morning and 5:30 the second morning. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The Metro is about a 5-6 block walk downhill. Although there is a restaurant on site (I did not eat at), places to eat are several blocks away. I did find a CVS drugstore a block away where I could buy some snacks. I would stay there again if the construction was completed. It has been going on quite a long time and looked to be only about 30% completed.

Construction of the neighboring building started at 5:45 am. We were placed in the room DIRECTLY adjacent ot the construction, although there were other rooms available. The staff did not inform us ahead of time that this would be expected. We were very upset, given that we were evacuees from the Hurricane, it was even more just upsetting. If there had been a disclaimer of the noise, we woudl not have stayed here. We spoke to the manager the following day. Although he gave us a partial discount, it was only after some discussion, and we had to fuss quite a bit to get it. Although this could be a very nice boutique hotel, we had a terrible experience.

The hotel is beautiful and quaint from the outside and the location is within walking distance to the major attractions and the Metro. Also is near Chinatown which has some great nightlife. HOWEVER, the rooms are tiny and we had a bed that felt like it was about the size of a twin. The pipes in the walls made loud noises when our neighbors would take a shower (at 5:30am) and when we talked to the front desk about moving they told us ""it is an old building, these things happen"". Also, on our second day they decided to rip up the carpeting right outside our room (as we were given a room directly across from the elevator). This happened at about 7:30am and it sounded like someone was trying to break into our room. Loved the area but would stay at the Embassy Suites located about 2 blocks south if you are looking for the location.

Staying at the Henley Park Hotel was an absolute pleasure. From the pleasant foyer through to the lovely guest rooms, it was an ideal place to stop at during our time in Washington. Even though there is construction happening next door, there was no hint of noise. Overall a very pleasing place to stay on our stop in Washington DC on our round USA trip.
