The location and ambiance of the hotel are great. Historic inn in the middle of metropolitan dc. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Parking is a nightmare. Hotel offers valet for $33/day and street parking is 2hr & permit only Monday though Friday. There was a water bug in the bathroom and one of our towels had a hole but otherwise the room was very clean and comfortable, although a bit small. Great for short stays in the city but did not have much to offer other than a place to stay. Did not have an opportunity to eat at the restaurant, but it looked nice and offered breakfast delivery to the room from 7-10am. Checkout was at 12pm which allowed for a stress free morning. I would definitely stay again.

The room itself was beautiful, and the staff were top-notch. My ONLY complaint was that if you wanted breakfast room service, you have to pre-order the night before, and select a half-hour window, earlier than I wanted to get up while on vacation, and it was expensive for what we got. But we only tried it on a lark anyway, not being breakfast people, really. On the other hand, one of my best memories of the whole trip was sitting on the lovely patio enjoying a pleasant cocktail hour before heading out to dinner. Also a very clean hotel. Overall four-and-a-half stars if that were an option. Would gladly use this hotel again.

We got there late on Sat. night and the young lady behind the desk couldn't have been more welcoming. The room was a little small but the bathroom made up for it. A full size tub I could soak my aching feet/body in after a long day museum hopping. TIP- there is a CVS pharmacy on the next block, next to a small affordable cafe. The hotel has a world class restaraunt but it was a little out of our budget. We enjoyed eating in different places everyday. Don't miss the cafe in the Native American Museum, it's not as different as you might think. We walked everwhere even down to Union Station! The neighborhood felt safe. If you want to use the public transit buy a "SmartCard" at CVS, they are $*, it gives you $* in transportation value, and you can use it on any of the transportation system (subway -city bus- circulator bus all different costs). But I really enjoyed walking around D.C. there is something to see on every street. Walk through China Town look for the "Irish Channel Pub" sign with the Chinese lettering. One building on a residential street had a fall out shelter sign on it! Beautiful architecture details on the old homes, stained glass, corbels, cast iron stairs and the gardens! There are only two items in the negative column for me. 1. The mattress was really FIRM. It was uncomforatable for us. 2. Sirens & horns! The hotel is situated in area that has heavy traffic, near a firehouse. Ask for a room on the more quiet side. To be fair we were there durring the Nuclear Summit so cop cars were everywhere blairing the sirens to get through traffic. We would stay here again, it was worth it.

The Hotel even though slightly out of the way for walking everyday was excellent. The room spaciouis and clean the bed was very nice the only bad thing about the room was the Tv very small and hard to see in the cabinet provided. No intenet connection in the room either. The Hotel front desk supervisor made our first trip to DC a much better time directing us to ways to see more and do it easier. The bell staff went out of their way and overall it was great
