Street-side the Moana Surfrider is situated on busy Kalakaua Ave. The port cochere, with rocking chairs and practically connected to the Honolulu Coffee Co next door seems to absorb the Waikiki traffic. Once inside the foyer seems an entity until itself, not really directing you in any direction (check-in, courtyard, restaurant). Once we figured out go right to check in, we got our keys to a corner top floor Banyan Classic Ocean room. Room was cosy and simple. The sound of the waves on Waikiki beach and views of the coast and Pacific ocean were magic. Would love to stay again.

Upon check-in the hotel staff informed my wife and I that they had downgraded our room. We asked why but they said they doubled booked an didn't have any room. They didn't reimburse me from the difference in price but they did give us the choice of different vouchers. I didn't think the staff was too friendly. The only plus about this hotel is it is on the beach.

We arrived for a week-long stay. Had booked a beach front room but told that they were sold out of these so we took a room in the main/older building. After 2 nights they moved us to a suite in the tower building and it was very nice. I stay at Westin because they always make it right and they didn't diappoint this time. Service, view, beach and food all exceeded expectations. I highly recommend with enthusiasm!

The price of the hotel was more than we would normally pay but well worth. If you have a room that includes the breakfast buffet, you will not be disappointed. It was literally over the top. The beds are dreamy comfortable, and the hotel staff is more that accommodating. I would highly recommend staying here if you visit Honolulu. Also, Ingrid at the tours and activities desk is wonderful at scheduling your activities for the island.
