Solid hotel service in an amazing building. Check out the pool and the ""historic hallway"" with photos of old Hollywood parties and Academy Awards ceremonies held in the hotel. Parking is way expensive, $40/night, but you can park in Pershing Square garage across Olive St. for about $15/night if you don't need to go in and out very often. My only major complaint was the noise - our room window was over the air conditioner and it was very, very noisy all the time - even with the window closed. Also there was street noise and occasionally sirens. You can walk to Little Tokyo (almost a mile) but you have to go through about two blocks of business district that's abandoned after 5 to homeless folk - a little creepy but I didn't feel unsafe. We mainly explored there and in the little market near the hotel - lots of yummy-looking Mexican and Chinese food, plus veg and fruit stalls.

I grew up in suburban L.A., but had never stayed downtown, so took advantage of the fact that my wife were catching an early train departing from Union Station to stay at the Biltmore. We asked if we could get a room with a safe in it, and the clerk upgraded us to a Club Level room. It was spacious and had a nice view of Pershing Square, which was full of ice skaters for the Xmas season. The main hallway of the hotel was atmospheric and historic. Old photos looked like scenes from ""The Shining."" We felt safe walking to a restaurant at night. We did have two (very expensive) drinks at the hotel's bar. There's quite a lot of interest in downtown, including the Bradbury Building, Grand Central Market, Angels Flight, and many stores and restaurants. Easy access to a subway station.

The hotel is gorgeous. The lobby and ballrooms are magnificent. My room was a standard king which was large and well maintained. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was a little small but adequate. Dinner and breakfast was very good but a little pricey. I did not park there because it was $$$ expensive. However, there is parking right across the street if you take the elevator to the ground floor and go out those doors. The hotel is located downtown which is easy access to many attractions. The business center in the hotel made it very easy to print a boarding pass for the flight home.

On top of it all when i was leaving to go out i gave them my ticket so i can get my car i wait for 10 to 15 minuts for my car, i asked the velet personal about my car her response was ( O im sorry did YOU WANTED YOUR CAR! ....SO would i stay here again F@%$ck No. Over all the rooms are nice the front desk was nice but would not waste time and money here again. O forgot velet area is so small 3 car max that can fit there thats all. Don't waste your time and money spend a little more but get good service.

This old hotel is a little piece of history and must be a best kept secret as I have never heard anyone speak of it. For an 85 year old hotel it has been very well maintained. The service is impeccable, the staff friendly and attentive and lots of attention is paid to details. The room was extremely clean and the bed was as comfortable as my own.I was particularly impressed by the duvet and pristeen duvet cover ! I usually will not even touch a bedspread on a hotel bed, but this was delightful. Other than breakfast, which was superb, we didn't eat in the retaurants. I plan to next time. We did have late night dessert via room service and it was prompt. We had cocktails in the bar and it was beautiful. I wish I had had more time to wander around this grand old hotel as there is so much to see, including the corridor of old photos from the 9 academy awards this hotel hosted. I can't compliment this hotel enough. It easily rivals any Ritz Carlton I have been to. Additionally, booking through online website travel, we were able to get an exceptionally good rate. If downtown Los Angeles is a convenient location for your stay then I highly recommend this hotel.
