Excellent value for an excellent hotel. Not in best part of San Jose. This hotel was like an oasis in that respect. If I did not have a rental vehicle I would have been compelled to use taxis but taxis are usually necesary in San Jose, anyway. I will definitely stay there again.

The room smelt dank and musty. Even the taxi drivers warn that this hotel is in a dangerous area of San Jose. The bar across the road plays loud music until 2 or 3am on the weekends - but you wouldn't want to go into the bar. On the plus side, the staff really do try.

This is not an elegant hotel from the outside and it does sit next to a run down part of town, but don't let that fool you. Inside, is a very nice open-air lobby and dining area next to an indoor garden and pool. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The service is excellent and a good breakfast is included. To top it off, free internet and free phone calls to the US and Canada from the hotel lobby!

This hotel was in a bad area of San Jose and across the street from a few loud nightclubs which had frequent police visits throughout the night. I know this because of the sirens. Inside of the hotel was nice and we were safe as long as we did not go outside. The pool was clean and the little cafe was nice for a snack, but closed early. We had problems flushing the toilet and that was a drag. Other than that, it was a great value for spending a night and catching a flight in the morning. They had a shuttle that left on the hour for $5 a person to the airport, so that was great!!
