The vent above the tub/shower was leaking moldy water from the room above ours. When I brought it to the on duty managers attention, she thanked me for letting her know and asked when we would be leaving the room so that they could take a look at it? I asked them how the were going to rectify the situation (thinking that they would move us, comp us something, etc.), she said "oh would you like us to send someone there right now"? I immediately checked out of the hotel and booked a room at the Outrigger Reef just down the street. The staff there is far more accomodating and service oriented. They got us a room early and understand the quality of a hotel and the customer experience is in large part based on quality service . I would recommend skipping the Hilton and going to the Outrigger or other hotel.

My husband and I stayed here for our 20th wedding anniversary. The resort is very large and the location is OUTSTANDING. Located right on the a very nice beach (but just blocks away from the hassel) with great views (we had partial oceanview). Be prepared for a very a busy resort, due to the expansive size of the resort. Customer service was very good and our room was very spacious. The resort is comprised of several towers (buildings) we were in the Tapa tower. The resort pools were clean and nice (but can be busy during the heat of the day!) luckily there are several pools to choose from each with their own allure. The biggest surprise of the resort was the wide variety of shops, restaurants and services. The "village" is almost a small city within itself. We did not have our children with us but thought it would be a great hotel for our next family visit to Oahu. Most (if not all) tour companies have shuttle service to/from the hotel available-which was EXTREMELY nice. There are also several tour companies onsite. Onsite parking was good and easy. The only caution is some of the onsite restaurants were expensive, we did not care for the Bali restaurant AT ALL-food was not great and very over priced!

Our trip to the hotel was a nightmare and when we got to the hotel because we were on a shuttle we were dropped off at the back of the hotel and then treated so badly that when we finally found out where the check in desk was and walked with my 77 year old mother and 5 suitcases and on the other side of the hotel, we were then treated badly again by the check in desk. When we finally got to our room it was not what we booked or paid for, and things didn't work in the room had to replace the little refridgerator and we had to buy a fan to keep the room cooler. We did complain to management and 3 days later someone finally got back to us to find out what was wrong and for all our trouble we were given a $* credit my the assistant manager to shop within the hotel which at their prices didn't go very far. We paid for an original Laua at the hotel, only to find out that it was on a rooftop with gas grills and rain, we paid again for a so called big Wild Experience show pool side and wound up leaving both places early and very dissapointed. Over 1/2 of the shows we had wanted to see were no longer available or had moved off the island, and they took out all the mini bars from the rooms forcing customer to pay high prices at their little stores, coffee, snacks, tea, etc. I would never stay at this hotel again and we were ready to check out when we checked in & being dropped at the back like we were poor dirt farmers, should have warned us at least.

Stayed for three days in mid-June from Weds-Sat before our cruise. Hubby and I left the teens at home. Location was great. You could walk across the street and go to IHOP and Denny's or Burger King. Walk three blocks and you are at the Wards shopping center with Cheesecake Factory, Coach, Prada, and much more! Everything on the beach is very safe and convenient. Saw we got a cheaper rate ($*) for TAPA tower "partial ocean view." Got there and discovered our 18th floor balcony had a fabulous view of downtown, Diamond Head AND the ocean. It doesn't matter if your building is not next to the water, the whole property is very convenient to the beach, pools and garage. The room and bedding were outstanding (and I'm picky about that.) We didn't eat at the restaurants or buy from the shops as they are expensive, but it was fun to walk around and look at everything. In hindsight we should've tried out the Tropics as it is right on the beach and looked fun. They even had a band in there. The pools are nice, the beach is right on the Waikiki Beach Walk. At night they light everything up with tiki torches. Everything was "Disney-clean", beautiful, and first class. The lobby is open-air, and there are waterfalls with pink flamingos and even penguins! There is a daily parking charge, but we had no problem getting in and out of the garage each day as we went out to sight-see. There was a lot to do in Honolulu so our regret is that we didn't have more time to spend at this beautiful resort.
