This was our 1st visit to Hawaii including myself, husband and two son's ages 12 & 14. I extensively researched Oahu hotels & despite some negative reviews, decided HHV fit our families needs best. I knew ahead of time this is a HUGE resort so we weren't surprised by how massive it actually was. Even tho it was very big, it never felt over-crowded. I also knew that check-in was reportedly a slow process so we joined Hilton Honors ahead of time & were able to go to a separate check-in line with very little wait. I'd booked a 'resort view' room & upon check-in we were comp upgraded to 'water view', which turned out to be partial ocean/marina/lagoon view in the Rainbow Towers. The room was small, a lil dated but overall clean & adequate for our family. I awoke in the middle of the night & went out on the balcony, which was a lil disappointing as the only thing I noticed was a well lit parking lot...everything else was dark. The next day after several long waits on the SLOW (only two) elevators for the entire tower, we decided to pay for an even better upgrade. We paid a lil bit more per nite & were given an Ocean front view on the 11th floor of the Ali'i Tower. WOW!!! This was SO worth it....comp bottled water, robes, HUGE rooms with 3 separate bathroom areas!!! Private pool/weight room/jacuzzi/sauna etc. JUST for guests in this tower. I can't say enuf good about this building or our room...it was GREAT! All of the staff were extremely friendly & we never had an issue with being ignored or rudeness. Bobby, the pool attendant did an amazing job & def took great pride in his work---he's an absolute gem. Onsite restaurants were adequate but nothing great & of course were overpriced as expected. Round Table Pizza was our favorite onsite place & the ABC store was very convenient for most things. If you don't mind a short 1-2 mile walk, there are MANY wonderful places to eat close by (Cheesecake Factory, Jimmy Buffets, Hard Rock Cafe, Big Kahuna's *burger*, etc.) The beach was the best stretch on all of Waikiki & the fireworks and music from The Tropics Bar & Grill added to the ambiance. HHV grounds/landscaping were impeccable and all of the fish/birds/critters added SO much to our overall experience. There is also a small reef right at the hotel beach that many people don't know about so we had it to ourselves. It wasn't quite as impressive as Hanauma Bay, but we did see quite a few colorful fish & it can't be beat for convenience. We'll prob go back to Hawaii again & wouldn't hesitate staying here again or recommending it to others. Thanks HHV for making our Hawaiian vacation amazing for our family.....

overall, not too bad of an experience. We originally had a suite in the diamond head tower. It's was really run down and old. We then got moved to the Tapa tower which was much nicer. One annoying thing is that everytime we went to the concierge desk they were trying to sell us a time share

The hotel overall was top notch, pools were very nice, room was nice. The grounds were beautiful, great views, lots to do. The part we were surprised at were the prices for room service, drinks by the pool, valet laundry, and parking. They were 30-40% higher than we expected. Overall, very nice place, just be prepared to pay $18 for a cheeseburger.
