The hotel was really nice, but our room was extremely small. We saw on the map that they gave us the room that was half the size of the regular rooms because of a nearby stairwell. My sister, who works in hospitality, told us we got the small room because we prepaid through Travelocity. They had already been paid for the room, so they had no reason to give us the regular room. We were a little disappointed in that. Otherwise, the staff The location were good.

For the hotel to be a Hilton property, I was expecting it to be more upscale than it was. There was not anything wrong with our accommodations per se, but there was nothing outstanding about it either. We paid extra to be on the executive level which put us higher up and more away from road noises, and it supposedly was a bit larger. A very nice continental breakfast came free with the upgrade. Our room was adequate for our needs, the hotel needed some cosmetic touch ups but it was ok. I've stayed in many other properties of lesser name status that were as good or better than the Hilton, even in mid-town Manhatten, but it was ok. It's proximity to time square and Rockefeller square was a big plus.

I prefer to stay at this Hilton when in New York City. The rooms are very nice and comfortable and if you need anything extra someone will get it for you on short notice. The location is ideal for theatre, shopping, dining, museums, etc. The personnel are always courteous and helpful. I especially appreciate the executive lounge because it provides a good place to relax and have a cup of coffee (which is excellent and always available) after a busy morning or afternoon of shopping or sightseeing. This last time I stayed the rules had changed and I had to pay extra for access to the executive lounge. However, I plan to return soon - before Christmas.
