I would have rated the Reef with all 5s, except it does live up to it's name "Reef on the Beach" Nice beach until you enter the water, then it's rocky, so we walked west about 300 yards And swam there. Wonderful Hotel and staff, Nice restraunts on site. Centrally located. Great Views.

This hotel was really comparable for our budget. It was directly on the beach with a great view of Diamond Head Mountain. The parking expense was too much. That is the only negative comment I have about this hotel.

This hotel had everything we needed and wanted. You can book your tours, walk 20 feet to the beach, sit by the pool and relax, enjoy the bar/restuarants and walk to a huge shopping mall only a few blocks away. There are little stores called ABC ,it seems every few blocks that have most everything you could need. The view from the beach is awesome and although there are some rocks in the water I didn't have any problem finding a clear path and a place to swim and just relax in the surf. We went to Pearl Harbor which was very solemn and inspiring for one of our trips and went to a luau at Paradise Cove, which was just an awesome experience. The prices for food and drink in the restuarants and lounges seemed very reasonable and the breakfast buffet at the Shore Bird was quite adequate. Every staff member was very friendly and made you feel welcomed. If we could I would go back in a heartbeat. My wife and I renewed our vows in a beautiful ceremony on the beach right outside the hotel door. The only thing I might change is trying to spend more time.

We loved our stay at the Outrigger Reef and will definitely return. My only complaint was that our return flight home was at 10 pm and the hotel would not allow us to check out any later than 12 pm. We weren't looking to check out at 6 pm but maybe being able to check out around 2 pm would have been nice. Also, if renting a car parking here is a little pricey so be prepared for that added expense. The beach area in front of the hotel is a little small thus gets crowded pretty quickly. So, get out early if you want a good spot on the beach. There is plently of shopping and great resturants close to the hotel. But I suggest renting a car and venturing off to other areas of the island simply to escape the crowds in Waikiki Beach.
