On my first ever trip to Mexico, i stayed in this hotel. We could not find any ice. My husband searched all the levels looking for ice, finally took and empty ice bin, brought it to the front desk and demanded ice. Check in was at 5pm, so why is check out at 10am? Because the maid cleaned slowly and would disappear, so when swarms of tourists came, the rooms needed to be empty to give the maids more time to clean. One room with one queen bed would hold two parents with six kids, and they would not close the doors. Noise level was much too high on all levels. We moved rooms 2 or 3 times because of filth and bugs. I didn't have high standards for my first trip to Mexico, but they were not this low.

I spent 10 nights, 11 days in this hotel and in those 11 days i moved rooms 4 times because of incest infestation. I barely ate because there were swarms of local kids everywhere. To get a good meal, i had to be at the restaurants, waiting at the doors, before they opened to get a seat and food. At check out, the lady at the front desk did not want to check me out unless i paid her $50. I have over $160 stolen from my room. To more bottled water brought to my room, i would have to call in four or five times. The vast majority of workers spoke zero english. Unless you are a Spaniard or Mexican, you will be served last. Have fun waiting 45 minutes at your table until they have served everyone else. Or you have to get up and get in there faces and ask for help. I have been to Mexico in the past and i have never had problems like this! Good luck finding any ice at the resort.

This was a wonderful family resort. My daughter and five other friends came to the Riu Jalisco as a graduation trip. I was in the company of five other moms and my sister. The restaurants were average quality. The Italian restaurant was our favorite at the resort. We went into Puerto Vallarta near the port and had a great lunch at Pepi Mexican restaurant. Our only complaint is the loudness that echoed in the hotel. Some people were shouting at 2 a.m.. As a middle aged adult, I would prefer to stay in the future at the Riu Vallarta or the Palace. They both seemed more quiet and less children and teenagers.
