    Stayed at the Barcelo in PV over spring break. The people were great and very friendly and the place was beautiful. Unfortunately, the food and drinks were horrible. Breakfast was the best meal, everything else was pretty bad. The wine tasted like vinegar and the alcohol in the drinks was not good, you had to ask for the higher end stuff. Everyone in our group got sick and we heard many other guests complaining about being ill.

    We had a awesome vacation at Barcelo. Mismaloya Beach is beautiful. Hotel was fine, nice rooms and amenities. We stayed in a two bedroom - it was clean and spacious, and worked great for a family of four. Staff was accomodating and courteous and kept the hotel grounds and pool areas immaculate. The only small negative to us was the the food quality of the buffet during lunch/dinner. Most guests we spoke to had same comments about the buffet. However, this is not really a big deal as we ate lunch at other places in the hotel, and when we didn't have any dinner reservations at the hotel restaurants, we went downtown P.V. (about $15 cab ride). A few TIps: Visit Downtown, eat at Pipi's fort great mexican food. Go snorkeling at Los Arcos from beach area with Capt Sergio - he will show you the best time. Do Outdoor Adventure zip lines and rappelling tour- a real blast! Although we booked for airport pick up /return through travel website, next time we go we will just get a taxi - which is alot cheaper and easier than using specific company (who just act as middle man, take their cut and hail you a taxi anyway). We found taxi drivers to be fair and consistant with prices - but always verify taxi fares before starting. All said we had a fantastic time and will be back.

    We did 11 nights early december was amazed at the quality of the rooms no need to upgrade room as they are all really nice and the most comfortable bed Ive ever slept in. Down pillows and cover. The food was good some nights better then others but always found more then enough. Great drinks and as others have saidtipping goes a long ways. The beach is small but nice and the water seems a lot cleaner then in PV. Bus ride to town only 6 pesos and a great adventure. Tip take bus to Boca and take a water taxi to yelapa for a day.

    We found the resort to be relaxing and easy-going, but we visited during a slightly off-time. I suspect that during the prime tourtist season there might be a differnet feeling. Food was nothing to write home about, but certainly lots of it, and enough variety to keep the whole family happy. We stayed in a two bedroom - it was clean and spacious, and worked great for a family of four. Staff was accomodating and courteous. One great tip that we read before going was to bring $100 in one dollar bills and tip everyone. Also, call the hotel and arrange an airport transfer - someone will be waiting for you at the airport and they bill it to your room - a welcome sight after a long day of travel.

    We were here 15 years ago and enjoyed ourselves just as much this time. Beautiful surroundings, good food. Lots of variety of food. Biggest complaint was I kept over eating. Rooms really nice. We walked to the Zoo and loved it. Tony's restaurant up the hill was great. We got a deal for 2 massages at the resort. You have a choice of having your massage on the balcony or inside. Go for the balcony. It was heavenly.
