This was my second time at Blue Bay within the last 4 year's, sad to say the quality has greatly deteriorated. The front desk staff was inefficient and unfriendly. It took close to 20 minutes just to find my reservation :/ The drinks were horrible, food was mediocre and the room was absolutely nothing to write home about. The beach wasn't well kept and they permit street vendors to constantly harass you. The only plus was the actual staff. Angel at the beach bar was amazing, he went above and beyond. As did Commando And the rest of the animation team. I think the tourism quality as a whole has gone down in Puerto Plata. Many of the resorts are closed. I will not return. :(

This was probably the worst all-inclusive resort I have ever stayed in. The service was horrible. The staff was very rude and did not make you feel welcomed. The food was average. You could only reserve a restaurant every other day, but they fail to tell you that only certain ones are opened on certain days. Mind you that there were only 3 restaurants to choose from. The beach did not have the clear blue ocean that people would have expected. In addition, no one wanted to lay on the beach because you constantly get harrassed by locals trying to sell you jewelry, cigars, etc. We avoided the beach all together. The rooms were smaller than what we expected and the bed was hard as rock. I actually got a bruise laying on my side. Good thing we planned to do excursions outside the resort because if we would have stayed at the resort the whole time, we would have been miserable. I would NOT recommend this resort to anyone.

Let's start off by noting this was a reasonable price for an Adults-Only All Inclusive Resort, however I would not return nor recommend to any friend or family. When we arrived at the resort there was no running water in any of the bathrooms or rooms for the first 2 hours of our stay. Restrooms were overflowing, sinks were not running, and there was no ice for the drinks at the pool. The rooms are OK for what you're paying and are kept clean and the staff is very friendly. The entertainment is cheesy, but if you like that sort of thing you have the option to participate in pool aerobics, darts, ping pong, and a few other things. The pool was the best part about this trip, oh and of course the company of whom you're traveling with. The beach was a walking flea market. People tried to sell us anything and everything from wind chimes to jewelry to wall paintings that were too large to even fit on the plane. Beach water was just average- nothing what you'd except to see in the Caribbean. I expected cyrstal clear blue waters, but that isn't going to make or break a vacation especially since the pools were so relaxing. What is going to make or break a vacation is the FOOD...common- no one wants to get sick or feel naseous day after day on vacation. This resort had the most disgusting food I have ever been served in my entire life. The buffet was wanna-a-be American food made from off-brand foods or what the Domincans THOUGHT to be American food. The al a carte restaurant (which you are not even allowed to eat at every night during your stay), was not good either. The "meat" restaurant offered tough, chewy, unknown meat. The U.S. imported steaks were served for an extra additional charge, which doesn't seem very inclusive to me. The fish restuarant was the better of the two, but always had some unknown sea food mixed in. By the 4th and last day/night of our stay we were munching on Doritos throughout the day and ordering Pizza Hut for dinner. Out of the three the "fish" restaurant was the only OK option, but not even average. Oh and lets not forget about the black out during out last night there, which deleted everyone's wake up calls for the morning - hope no one missed their flights home!!!

The positive: At first glance you feel as though you are in paradise. It is a beautiful resort with very friendly, helpful, and hospitable staff members. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The entertainment is fun and great if your there for a week (it repeats weekly and can get boring). There are plenty of adventures and excursions to experience. The nightlife is great, with a few bars/clubs within a 10 min drive. The food is good and the breakfast fruits and smoothies are fantastic! The pool bar is the best idea they could have come up with. The negative: There are WAY too many ppl bothering you to buy items or memberships. They will say its not a timeshare, but its a timeshare! The televisions are from the 1980's and need upgrading. They do not offer free internet. If you arent much of a ppl person or decide to just relax in the room one night, it may not be possible because of the entertainment staff and events they have nightly. Aside from these, there isnt much bad or wrong with this resort and i would return and recommend it to my friends.
