Important Hotel Information
- PLEASE NOTE-From May 6 thru December 8, 2013, Barcelo Maya Beach will be renovating some of the public areas of the property, including the hallway area between and toward the guest rooms, the lobby and main buffet restaurant. During this time, the Lobby Bar, Buffet Restaurant and Mexican a-la-cart restaurant will be closed. However, guests have available and are welcome to use all facilities of the adjoining Barcelo Maya Caribe property, including the Grill Restaurants and Theatre Bar (opens at 5PM). There may be some construction noise during this time.

Beautiful hotel, all the amenities you could want. Gorgeous grounds, great service, good food, ""outside"" gym, great beach to run on, beautiful pools, lots of activities for the kids. Wish we could have more nights at the different restaurants. We only recieved coupons for two of the restaurants, the rest of the time we ate at the buffet which was good but got old. The hotel is close enough to Playa del Carmen for a quick trip to shop in town but far enough away for some peace and quiet. Definately take a trip with ""Alltournative"", great people and a great experience!

We went on our honeymoon in 2004, and returned for an anniversary in 2006. The beds are unusually hard. The door to the bathroom is slatted so you can't be modest on your honeymoon. The proximity to the other Barcelo resorts is nice. We had dinner at the Italian and Mexican restaurants and they were amazing. The snorkeling and watersports are amazing. Not much selection for beer and wine though. Lots of beach and pool chairs and hammocks to choose from. The van ride from the airport takes a while... over an hour. Overall, a very relaxing time.

Great food. Clean and neat rooms. One of the owner is from Europe, so the food was excellent. I doubt that people who criticise the food in Barcelo had better meals ever. The best vacation ever. It is a blast for those who afraid of sharks. Nice and safe swimming.
