Have stayed at the Amalfi more than a dozen times over the last four or five years. It's typically my go-to hotel in Chicago. Excellent rooms. Always very clean. Quiet. Has a small-hotel entry and personable staff, but large-hotel amenities. (Cocktail hour!) Well decorated. Efficient. Really, a solid place to stay. Oh, and easy walking distance to some truly excellent restaurants and entertainment. Bit of a hike to the El, but not too bad if it's not a blizzard or blazing hot. Plentiful cabs. Good bellmen. Front-desk staff has always been pleasant and professional. Not too sure what they offer by way of meals/restaurant/room service. Have always gone out when I'm there. Miss the piano in the foyer... maybe in the next remodel:-) Can't remember it it's free Internet or not. Would definitely recommend for business travel.

This was a nice, quiet hotel. The staff was very friendly. Our room (king) was nice and comfortable. My husband and I only stayed 1 night, but we would have liked to stay more. I loved the ipod docking am/fm radio in the room. The internet was really slow in the business center. I tried 3 different computers and on each one, the mouse had issues and the computer froze up. This was frustrating. I would stay here again though. We dined at Harry Carey's across the street. It was more expensive than we planned, but good food.

Hotel convienent to utilize public transportation . Found the continental breakfast provided wide selection of fruit& pastries. All staff members were quick to respond to our requests. Bed was extremely comfortable. Our room was large and in quiet location (4th floor facing Kinzie St). We certainly enjoyed our visit to Chicago and our stay at the Amalfi.

The service upon entering was very nice, but the lobby was very tiny. The room was the smallest room I've ever stayed in with 2.5 feet on either side of the bed. The drawers and the doors on the furniture were broken and the sink cracked in the bathroom. There was to be continental breakfast each morning by the elevators, there was the first 2 nights, but not the third. If we had known ahead of time, we could have made other plans for breakfast before sprinting to the airport, but no one gave us any advance warning. If this was a 2 or 3 star hotel, I could have lived with it, but it is priced and rated as a 4, so I expected more.
