We had a wonderful time on W Hotel at Lexington Street. The Location is Perfect! two blocks from the Subway to everywhere in New York, we went even from JFK Airport to the Hotel by Subway, cheaper than Taxi ( a taxi ride is usd 65,00) and best option to get faster to Manhattan. The Hotel is wonderful, very clean and updated, extremely safe location, a modern lounge with great decor, 'clean and pure" style. The front desk was really helpful giving us maps and directions to everywhere in the city: subway to Museum, Empire States, Ground Zero, etc. We were so glad we picked this Hotel, every review was saying that the room is small, but for us the space was just perfect because we didn't go to New York to stay inside the room! The bed is really comfortable, with best pillow ever! as well as the good shower with Bliss products. Some free treats as the ?Apricot Water? on the lobby. We were pleased and happy with the relaxing and modern atmosphere and this great location in Manhattan. Thanks W Hotel and the travel website for the great Package price and perfect vacation we had!

Tried to book a King spectacular view room online and was assigned a spectacular view Queen. Called immediately and was told, no problem our account was annotated and the switch to a King would made at check-in. Checked-in and was put in a queen. The room was dirty, the A/C didn't work and the only chair was dirty and actually thread baren. The spectacular view was through dirty windows without curtain or drapes, just old fashioned crooked pull down shades. Ask for a room change and was told they had nothing available. All this for a Starwood prefered guest at the Gold Level.

First of all my room key did not work and in order for me to get back and forth into my hotel room that i spent a lot of money for i had to keep calling security, secondly, the room was HOT!!! the fan nor AC worked and the sweat was dripping down my back as i tried to get ready and lastly the service was horrible. After the second time my key did not work i went down to the check-in counter and spoke with someone behind the counter who was no help. They told me i could get my money because i prepaid and that i could not be switched to another room because they were all "booked". I asked to speakkwith management and of course the girl behind the desk calls and would not let me speak to the manager directly but of course all of a sudden another room was available. Then to top things off they hold money on your credit for incidentials for 5 days until you call them and have them fax something to your credit card company. It was a horrible night and a horrible stay. I do not recommend it to any one.

While this hotel was not awful, it by no means compares to other W hotels or similar boutique hotel brands. When I first read other traveler reviews, I suspected that perhaps those travelers had not know what to expect from NYC hotels, where it is quite common for the rooms to be very tiny and darkness is a part of setting the ambiance. However, the rooms were not just tiny but very poorly designed. Our alleged Queen-size bed was at most a Full, and a huge desk that served absolutely no purpose took up half the room. Rather than maximize the space with a flat screen TV, they had a TV from 1995 that took up the other half of the room. My husband and I barely fit in there, and forget trying to open our (small) suitcases at the same time. The lobby bar scene is lively, but there is a wait nearly every evening for the elevators. An actual line forms while people await for an elevator car to finally return to the lobby, and then guests cram like sardines into the elevators while trying to access their floors by first inserting their room cards into the an access slot in the elevator. Of course, the cards fail to work nearly half the time. It is also true that the heat is kept at unbearably high temperatures during winter. Our room overlooked a parking lot, and it was so claustrophobic that we did whatever we could to not have to return until the last possible moment. Also, the hotel restaurant is closed during weekends, so good luck if you'd like a meal on a Saturday or Sunday. The W The Court and W The Tuscany are about five blocks away, and the rooms are twice as large.

What a HUGE disappoint !! This is how it went, 2 Adults & 2 Children (16 & 11) booked through the Amex. Platinum Travel service, a W Hotel "FANTASTIC SUITE" at $958.00 per night plus taxes, plus, plus, plus $. Confirmed booking of 4 people in the suite yet only towels for 2 people every day requiring NUMEROUS phone calls to get the correct linens. Dirty coffee cups and dirty coffee maker left after room service had been and "done" their job. Requested to get tea bags along with coffee, NEVER happened until we had to call 6 times over a 10 hour period. Internet wireless service at $16.95 a day was slow, patchy and triple charge for one day (a 24 hour period). Bar service on a Saturday night, ONE bar server ! Had 1 drink over a one hour period and gave up as did 3 other couples who left in disgust. At check out, 45 MINUTES and 4 phone calls to have the bags collected and brought down. Hailed my own taxi as the "super cool and groovy doorman / greeter was too busy chatting up 4 girls flapping their collective lips about how hung-over their were at 5.30 pm. Business center was a joke ! $8 for 15 minutes on a desk top computer and $1 per page to print black and white. Individual staff were sometimes excellent but they listen to their own propaganda too much and middle and senior management need a good kick in the butt. As part of a 5 week, 3 country, family holiday this overall stay at the W Times Square was the low point. We stayed at Hiltons and Marriott's and still would prefer their genuine service. Best feature was the beds, super comfy with great pillows. Very disappointing.
