Aside from the great location and friendly staff, this was a dismal hotel. I was appalled at the paper thin door between units, giving zero privacy, which I was not informed of ahead of time. The housekeepers came way too early on some days and a couple times knocked on my door despite the Do not disturb sign. The air conditioning made it feel like I was staying in a freezer and the sockets for the lamp and alarm clock were not working properly, not to mention the vomit stain on the carpet beside the bed. No complimentary food, only a pouch of coffee each morning. Terrible.

Stayed 6 nights 1/13/09 1/19/09 & was very disappointed in the hotel, 1st night the SWAMP COOLER [NO AC] flooded the room, spent the next few days hearing excuses why the cooler was not working, finally could stand the room as the outdoor temp cooled down, we were on the 11th floor & lots of road noise with the door open, & setting on the Lani, $20 day for parking, ice machines not on all floors, lobby looked good & rooms were tired & in need of paint & general repair, the only plus for this hotel in my opinon, GREAT LOCATION, just sorry there was no pride in ownership.

Stayed there in October 26-November 1, 2008. The location is literally steps from the beach, with the parking area adjacent to the Honolulu Zoo just across the street, making parking (one of Oahu's nagging little problems) a lot easier and more convenient. This is the closest Waikiki hotel to Diamond Head, and views toward the mountain or the ocean are fantastic, particularly if you're staying on or above the fifth floor. There's a pool with plenty of lounges for those who like everything about the beach--but the sand. It's apparently online travel website policy not to identify specific hotel employees, which is understandable, but a shame in this case, because two employees in particular deserve a special shout out. Suffice it to say that the front desk staff was very pleasant and helpful in recommending things to do and places to see (there's also a online travel website activities desk in the lobby, for those who want to book tours and other special attractions). The hotel's assistant general manager also went out of his way to make our stay more enjoyable (even rounding up candles on short notice to make an evening in our room very special). All in all, one of the nicest mid-range Honolulu hotels we've stayed at, and one I'd gladly stay at again on our next trip to the island, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to friends. You can pay more for a place to stay, but if you're looking for a nice, clean, well-appointed room with a spectacular view and gracious guest service, the Park Shore should rank high on your list.

For handicapped visitors on a modest budget, this Aqua hotel can't be beat for the best people- watching /ocean view on the Waikiki strip. Motel-like amenities except for the spacious bathroom for wheelchair use with safety railings and bath bench with hand- held shower head. Very clean. Prompt room service and front desk helpfulness. Very noisy if the ocean view directly off Kalakaua boulevard (main drag) is closer to street level. If you enjoy the passing parade from your lanai view, take binoculars with you. Don't bother with car rentals if you stay there. Buses (wheelchair/ walker accessible) will pick up/drop off right at the hotel entrance to ease parking problems. Convenient to most Waikiki attractions. Beach & aquarium across the street; Kapiolani Park events/concerts, zoo directly across the Kapahulu Avenue entrance side. Metered parking at zoo area cheapest in Waikiki. Other than coffeemaker & fridge, no meals facilities. Eat out. Save one lunch or dinner (expensive) for a fabulous Japanese meal at Yoshitsune in the hotel before you leave.
