    My first time at the Golden Nugget we had a good time, a lot of activity on Fremont street and there were many things to do. The Fremont Street Experience was amazing !! Plenty of shopping, shows and street performers. The only bad experience we had was a fire alarm went off on Sunday, Aug.12 around 6:00 p.m., right at the beginning of the Closing Ceremony of the Summer Olympics while we were relaxing in our room when an announcement was made over P.A. system to evacuate the building by way of the stairs and not the elevator... 11 floors down!!! As a disabled Veteran of the Iraq War this was very inconvenient not to mention painful and very hot from the outside temperature. When we did check out the next day I brought this up the counter person that checked me out of my room, who wasn't very caring to my situation, stating " Oh yeah someone was smoking on the eleventh floor, it happens." that was when I felt an unwelcome or more of an uncaring feeling from the staff. For the most part it was a good time, but next time I visit, I wont stay at The Golden Nugget, I will try a different Hotel & Casino and hopefully they will have a more caring Staff.

    Just returned from 3 nights at The Golden Nugget and couldn't be happier with our 1st stay downtown and not on the strip. The rooms in the Rush Tower are very nice and the bed was probably the most comfortable we've ever slept in. The addition of a nice 42in. flat screen with DVD player and the Keurig coffee maker we're REALLY a PLUS!( 4 for 10 bucks or stop at the store and pick up your own.)The view from our room on the 21st floor facing the strip was breathtaking at night. You could see almost every Hotel on the strip and all the way out to Red Rock Canyon to the West in the day. The pool ( The Tank) with the Shark tank in the middle was really nice and the water slide that goes from the 3rd floor and through the Shark tank was AWESOME and I'm 54 yrs. old Probably went down it 10 times. We liked The Grotto Italian restaurant so much We ate there every night which is also a 1st for us. The Spa which is not exactly big had everything I wanted from free weights to sauna, steam room and hot tub. Plenty of cardio equipment also. If You get bored in the Casino just walk right out the back door onto Freemont st. and enjoy live music and lots of other entertainment or go to any of the many other casinos where you don't have to walk half a mile to get there. On Sundays if You're a Football fan they set up the Ballroom with tons of seating and every game on a big screen. There are so many good things about The Nugget that We're going back for a return trip in December. CAN'T WAIT!

    Even though it's in a downtown location the Golden Nugget was the most enjoyable, comfortable hotel we've ever stayed at in Vegas. Restaurants, including the buffet were outstanding. The steakhouse was expensive but worth it. The only thing I didn't like was having to pay to use the in room coffee pot.

    There is nothing like "downtown" or "old Vegas" for a trip to Sin City. And the Golden Nugget is the quintessential hotel for an awesome, comfortable and luxurious stay. If you think old Vegas is stuffy, think again! I would take the GN over any strip hotel, any day!
