We are a family of four and we booked the City View Tower Room as a treat for my birthday. After waiting in a long queue at the front desk for half an hour with a small baby, we were finally given our room. It was ok but when we tried to sleep we realised that there was horrendously loud noise coming from the elevators. We didn't sleep well. I phoned the front desk to complain about the noise and they said they didn't have any rooms to change that night and that I should try purchasing some ear plugs! Very unprofessional. Next day, after queueing again at the front desk, I was treated quite rudely by the manager who implied that I was extra sensitive to noise. This is not true, the noise from the elavators was like a train pulling in at a station. No compensation was offered for the inconvenience of having to move. I wouldn't recommend the service at the Hilton San Francisco, you can get a lot better for your money elsewhere!

We booked the city view double queen room to give a treat for the kids... The view was OK, and the beds were standard Hilton comfy - BUT the room was SO small we could hardly move around without having to rearrange furniture or bodies! There was barely enough room for the ironing board between the end of the bed and the desk! We were looking for a "go-to" place to regularly visit the city... and this won't be it. Unfortunately there was mold on the caulking in the tub/shower as well... We ordered cookies and milk from room service when we got in from our adventures... the large glasses of milk were room temp. We were too tired to make an issue of it.

I've stayed at this property several times. The location is terrific. It is very close to Union Square, Chinatown, theaters, and the financial district. It is also very close to all public transportation. Also, fantastic restaurants are within walking distance. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are very comfortable and clean. And there is a Starbuck's in the lobby. For a downtown property, this is an outstanding choice!
