We had a very good experience at this hotel. The room was extremely clean and the beds were so comfortable. It was like sleeping on a cloud. We were on the 30th floor so sound was not an issue, the only downside was the room was smaller than I expected. We had requested a double because there were three of us and there was not much space for suitcases, etc.

We enjoyed our 3 night stay at the Hilton. We paid in advance for a room with a city view and unfortunately they sold the room to someone else so when we checked in we got a nice room but one with a view of a parking garage. I told the clerk about this at check in and she got rude and said she couldn't give us the room because one was not available. She felt that going through an online booking site only provided the room if available. The next morning I called the online booking site and we were moved to a room on the 26th floor with a city view. They manager also called to apologize. That was the only unfortunate incident we had there. The room was clean and very quiet. We liked that the air conditioner had a thermostat and didn't run all the time. The pool is small and outdoors, so our teens were disappointed about that because it was too cold to use. The location is great. The concierge staff could have been more knowledgeable. One night we were looking for an inexpensive pizza place to eat and he neglected to tell us about the eatery at the Westfield mall two blocks down the street. The restaurant he suggested was anything but inexpensive. The location is great and our teens liked the Starbucks in the lobby. We strongly suggest the Cafe Mason. We ate there twice.

For $* you would think you'd get a full room. The room was so small I couldn't believe it. It was basically half a room. There was no place to put my shaving kit in the bathroom. I had to keep it on the desk out in the room. On a good note the computer tech help was very helpful with helping me hook-up my compuer with their internet connection.

I drove up to the main portico to be completely ignored by hotel staff. After a few minutes, I had to exit my car and walk to the door to be told by a staff member to pull around to the other side of the hotel for parking. Although we had reserved a city-view room at a higher rate, we were given a low-floor room on the interior structure of this massive hotel, looking out on a pebble roof of the hotel, with no light and no view. We were able to regain our better room after some unpleasant haggling with the room controller. Our first day there, the courtesy bar checker rudely barged into our room to check the courtesy bar, barely knocking before letting himself in with a master key while my wife dressed. Bell-staff and door men spent most of their working hours chatting with each other and ignoring customers. Not once did a door man hail a cab for us. They stood there ignoring us, until we realized the only way we were going to get a cab was to walk out to the street and get it for ourselves. The only time any staff approached me was when they saw I had my wallet out, eg., after checking out and getting our car at valet, I tipped the parker. A bell man suddenly runs up to lift the baggage into our car, (after I had already dragged my bags from the elevator to the car myself), expecting a tip for this marginal service. We are not a high maintenance family and have no complaints about most of our hotel stays in California, including the Parc 55, the Beverly Hilton, and others that were much more pleasant. Very disappointed in the San Francisco Hilton.
