    I had heard horror stories about this place after booking and was pleasantly surprised. We were upgraded from Bay to Lagoon tower with 2 rooms overlooking the Pacific. The view was great! The rooms were large with refrigerators (my kids fridge worked much better than ours). The location was amazing, we had a rental and traveled around the island but every night could walk to a different restaraunt. The lagoon was full of great fish and my son snorkeled there every day. The pool was small but nice with great food from the bar area served poolside, pricey but no more so than anything else on the island. The beach just south on Ali'i was great for body surfing. As mentioned in reviews some furniture was aged/stained and the plumbing was backing up everytime someone above us used it but considering the price and location it was a great deal. We did dolphin quest at the Hilton up the coast where I've stayed before and my wife was in awe of the property but when asked if she wanted to stay there next time or go back to Royal Kona she felt that Royal Konas location more than put it ahead of the Hilton which is somewhat isolated.

    We stayed in the 3rd tower, obvously not renovated like the center tower, but the view was fabulous, and i think we were the only couple in the tower, so ...

    The royal kona is in the beautiful location and i would recommend it as a destination sight but the hotel is getting tired and needs to be cleaned really well. ...

    The Royal Kona is in the beautiful location and I would recommend it as a destination sight but the hotel is getting tired and needs to be cleaned really well. We were in the Lagoon wing and the scenery was fabulous. The staff is very good and we felt welcome.

    The villas are actually in Keahou, a beautiful locale that's a pleasant i mile drive along a very scenic Alii Road into Kona. If you like relaxation, this is the place for you. I loved that my villa was quiet and there weren't tons of tourists around the resort grounds. I wanted to stay forever. There is an amazing shopping center close by with a grocery store, drug store, tiny hole in the wall restaurants (even a good Mexican place), a post office, and squeaky clean movie theater. I'm not a party animal, so this was the perfect place for me to veg out and soak up the sunshine in paradise! My only complaint is the bed matress could have been more comfortable, but management says they will address this issue. The staff was friendly and you will feel like you are living in Hawaii and not just renting a hotel room. Absolutely a great value.

    My husband and I arrived at the Royal Kona and things were great from the start. We had a nice room. The people were very friendly. The location is fabulous. Walking distance to alot of clubs, shopping, eating, dancing etc.... This was our 25th anniversary. The honeymoon we never had and we can't wait to go back. The drinks are a little steep but the view is worth every cent. The wait staff are great. We also enjoyed the laua and the food was good. The show was worth the money. House keeping does a pretty good job. The only complaint that we had is the bathroom is small and the tub is really small.
