Bus from airport dropped us off in a back alley - I would not have disembarked if my husband had not been with me. First non-smoking room we were given smelled like it became non-smoking the day before. Both my husband and I had trouble sleeping and woke up couching - cigarette butts all over the outside balcony. Casino was full of cigarette smoke and was very difficult to breathe - smelled bad. Got on a non-smoking floor the second day - fresher, but still had wierd smell-no thought on the hotels part of feeling bad that our first room was not okay. Good buffet. You can get free admission to the car museum if you ask the consierge, but no one at the hotel will tell you that - even if you are paying to stay there.

  • The standard rooms and hallways are tired and all need renovation

When I checked into my room, there was a strong odor as if a cats had been kept in the room, and is likely why the window as wide open and the bathroom vent/fan was running. There wasn't anything obviously wrong in the bathroom, which I thought my be the source. While changing my shoes, I immediately found that the carpet was soaking wet, and not just in one spot but the entire room, and clearly the source of the smell. I call the front desk and they immediately agreed to place me in another room, and a bellman arrived with a new room key in 10 minutes.. The second room thankfully had no strong odor, but suffered the same tired, old furniture and small TV, molding was in need of paint, the bathroom counter and floor tile were all worn with scratches and dents. This theme followed along in all the 3rd floor hallways, all need carpets cleaned/replaced and molding/trim painted. While my nightly room rate was quite low, and reaffirms you get what you pay for, the Hotel has a 3 star rating, when in reality it should only be a 1-2 star.

Definately a cheap stay and in the heart of strip (across from Ceaser's#. If you want to spend about 20$ more a night I suggest Bally's which has great access to Belagio, the tram, and is in the heart of the strip. I usually get a great view of the entire strip when i book bally's #Paris Side). Imperial Palace isnt that bad however the place is decorated like Elvis's mansion...

The bed was awesome. The room was clean. An outdated hotel in a great location. The check-in went quickly (unlike other hotels) as they had plenty of help. I appreciated this when I really just wanted to dump my stuff and get on with my day. Would have been nice if the pool was open but then again it was an unusually warm March.

  • Hotel needs major remodeling

While the hotel obviously offers a better value than some of the other hotels on the main part of the strip, you get what you pay for. The plumbing is seriously old. We had to switch rooms on the first day because neither the bathtub nor the sink would drain. We also saw roaches in the hallway on more than one occasion. The front desk staff member who checked us in was overly pushy about us getting the Total Rewards card. Also, Internet wasn't free: always a major gripe of mine in pretty much any hotel that's not off the grid. Pluses are that the Imperial (which, by the way, is by far the ugliest hotel on this part of the strip) is close to everything and the restaurants in the hotel are pretty good. Imperial is also affiliated with several other hotels on the strip, so even though they were remodeling their pool area, we were able to visit the pool at Caesar's. It was a place to stay at night, so it did the job, but I wouldn't stay here again. For a little more money, you can stay at a place that's clean, more modern and still in a convenient location.
