As motels go, this one is good. Location 200 feet from the sand beach is excellent. Room quality good. Excellent restaurant across the street with good food, and fair prices. Bob, who appears to be the motel GM, is a wealth of information about what to do in San Diego and vicinity, and how to get there.

We were here for a relaxing family vacation. The hotel was old and dirty and didn't seem to be well maintained. We knew we were in trouble when we saw balconies full of 20-something's all around us. We were up all night listening to their partying and multiple fights and arguments on the balcony. We spent a lot of money for the one night since it was a holiday weekend and barely slept a wink. We promptly checked out first thing the next morning even though we were booked for 4 more nights. The manager was nice enougho to waive the $100 penalty for not giving 24 hours notice before checking out. That was the ONLY positive part of the experience. We moved to a higher end hotel downtown and spent almost the same amount for the remaining 4 nights as we spent for the ONE awful night here. Not worth it!!

This was a great spot to stay. We had a nice view of the ocean and our hotel was right at the boardwalk. Excellent eating within walking distance. Also, ask at the front desk for coupons, vip cards, etc. for local restaurants. They saved us money and got us to the front of the line for popular places. There was a mini-kitchenette in our room, which was nice. The rooms were clean and the staff very friendly. Any negatives? Well, no breakfast buffet but there was an inexpensive coffee shop in the building. We were there during a repaint of some of the hallways, so there was that. But really, we loved it. Great hotel and we WILL go back!

Hotel parking wasn't great, and you had to pay to park at the hotel. Hotel staff was wonderful and friendly. Rooms were clean, hotel was across from a bar and another hotel and could get noisy at times, but over all a great time.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Blue Sea Lodge. Great location right on the beach with several restaurants within walking distance. There are several surf shops near the hotel that offer surfing lessons. Our daughters loved their lesson at Safari Surf School! The hotel was clean, comfortable, and quiet. Bob at the front desk was really personable, helpful, and kowledgeable about the attractions and eating establishments. Would have enjoyed complimentary coffee in the hotel lobby.
