Positives: great location (near central park, restaurants, subway, colulmbus circle, restaurant row. Negatives: I was prepared for a very small room after reading the reviews, but nothing can prepare you for this. I am 5'2" and when I sat on the toilet, my knees touched the wall. On wall of the shower is glass that over looks the bed. Weird. There was NO place to put our suitcase, or anything for that matter. There is lliterally NO ROOM for anything. If you are alone or a couple who is only staying for one or two nights, you may manage...but if you are doing an extended stay or you are with kids...do not stay here. Also....my shower was filled with mold.

The hotel is located in a great spot -- near the SW corner of Central Park. Easy walk to a lot of sites: restaurants, Lincoln Center, subways, and shopping. But, then there was the hotel itself. The common areas of were interesting, but ultimately I wanted a place to throw my hat, and the room pretty much allowed that and not much more. It was without a doubt the smallest place I ever stayed at. You have to imagine a bed just barely fitting in the room – leaving maybe a foot and a half around the bed – and by the way, this was the upgrade (there apparently is a smaller room, which I can’t imagine). You might think this should be large enough, but the problem is there was no place to sit – except the bed – and not place to dress or move around. My wife and I hard to get on the bed to have the other person pass. This may sound like an exaggeration, but it is true. The worst part is the TV was mounted on the wall. This is obviously necessary since there was no floor space to accommodate even a TV table, but what was awful is it was mounted on a side wall. You could not easily watch it (without craning your head and looking at the TV on an angle) but you could not walk around the bed (remember only a foot and a half) without ducking. My wife hit it getting out of bed in the night – a real hazard. By the way, this room was not cheap, so there is no doubt we would NEVER stay there again.

The room was tiny. But I didn't mind that too much. ALL night could not get any sleep for 2 reasons- 1. DOORS SLAMMING throughout the night. They make the doors so that they slam rather than close gently. Every time someone in another room opened/closed their door- SLAM!!! All night. 2. UNCOMFORTABLE bed. So bad. Could not sleep. Even the chair in the room was a cold, hard, uncomfortable metal.

But I live in an antique house with no closets. Never seen a smaller hotel room. Just enough room to turn around, literally. Even the tv was tiny. And I've never paid so much for a room. Definitely would never stay here again. It was tired and the ivy wasn't charming, just felt dirty. The only redeeming factor was the location was really convenient.

I know NYC hotel rooms are small, but this was ridiculous. There was at most 2 feet between each side of the bed & the wall. Had to sit sideways on the toilet, otherwise my knees would hit the wall. I felt like I was in the cabin of a ship instead of a hotel room. If they'd had four more feet of space in the room & decent towels, it might have not been quite that bad. Movies on TV didn't work. No minibar, no newspaper, no bathrobe all for $* a night! Yet the place was hopping! Every time you got in the elevator or the lobby there were people everywehere. Lots of Europeans; maybe they're used to the smallness. I could have gotten a larger room with more amenities for much less at a Hampton Inn. Sure the ambience of the whole hotel is cool & mod, but with so little consideration given to the comfort of the guests, all while charging those kinds of rates, all that mod-ness just seems completely fake & contrived. Will not ever stay there again, or ever recommend it.
