  The music is sooooooo loud. We were staying on the 1st floor. I am a bartender in Chicago so I have a very high tolerance, but you can't even hear the TV on max over the music they play in the lobby. To add insult to injury, they randomly charged us $ a day for recycling and ""south beach charge"", but didn't tell us until we were checking out. We stayed for 9 nights so this is no drop in a bucket. . . . Needless to say, this is not somewhere I would ever stay again.....ever. Also, they said they had a pool . . . They don't!

  My boys and I regularly stay at the Chesterfield for our annual "mancation". It is a convenient hotel that offers shuttle service from MIA Int'l Airport so there's no need for a car rental. The hotel is centrally located so you can walk to all the spots on Ocean Drive. This is NOT a high end hotel but it serves a great purpose for an even greater price. The staff does tend to be somewhat distant w/ the guests but overall it's a great hotel for the price you pay. The happy hour is great as long as you understand that it's just a happy hour and not a way for you to get twisted on quality liquor. The rooms tend to be well kept but you will find some problems here and there. Again, it's not a high end hotel so don't expect to get high end services and high end amenities. The rooms are equipped w/ nice flat screen TV, iPod/iPhone compatible stereos so you can just hook up your own music. The rooms are dimly lit but again, it's a hotel for you to be writing a dissertation. Think of it as ambiance lighting. Overall all the guys that have traveled on the "mancation" have been extremely satisfied w/ the Chesterfield. We are scheduled to go back on July 9th of '09!

  This is by far one of THE WORST HOTELS I have ever booked to stay at. I have traveled all over the world and this is by far one of the worst i've expierenced. 10 Minutes after checking in - we discovered the toliet was leaking and flooding our bathroom. Come to find out the entire toliet had a huge crack in it. Staff REFUSED to give us another room claiming ""no vacancy"" although the huge VACANCY sign was lit up outside. THey were so nasty and Rude. Not to mention it being a health code violation. We also had booked & paid for a JR suite which clearly states has a bath tub and separate shower. OUR room was tiny - NO phone - very unsafe, not even in the hotel - it was 2 buildings down and down a dark alley with access right outside. Our room only had a shower and the staff lied to us about it being a jr. suite - after a horrible 3 hours of trying to get put into another clean room that was NOT flooded - the front desk ""HELP"" refused to canceled our credit card charge even though we left the hotel and NEVER EVEN STAYED THERE> DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL> I don't wish this horrible expierence upon anyone.

  Hotel staff is useless!! Everything advertised as an amenity is a joke! They are not customer service oriented at all!! Rooms are extremely dark - we asked hotel to provide us with a lamp to brighten up the room and they said no - they couldn't do that! Our door lock did not work and we were moved to another room that was in worse condition and smelled like mildew the entire time we were there! We booked a cruise and they would not print our boarding passes for the cruise so we walked 2 blocks to another hotel (not affiliated with them) and actually had them print it out! They advertised VIP passes for the hottest clubs, but never had any available! No internet access from the room, no beach towels available, happy hour is nice - but you only get a 6oz (at the most!) drink. You get a better deal going to a local liquor store to stock up! The hotel location is awesome and I believe many people who stay disregard all of the negatives the hotel has to offer - because again, it is in a prime location! I will NEVER stay there again!

  I was transferred from the Mercury, which was overbooked, to the Chesterfield at midnight, after arriving from NYC on a late flight. Apart from the obvious foul-up by reservations, the Chesterfield wasn't all that bad. For the price they charge, you could do a lot worse. I was smart enough not to drive, so I didn't worry about the parking situation and the hotel shuttle was great to get to the airport. The hotel is very well located, with the beach and clubs all walking distance. Just make sure you ask for a room in the back or it can be noisy. The bed was comfortable and the room was large enough for two people to fit comfortably.
