The smallest of WDW's resort hotels, the Port Orleans French Quarter is an affordable option with a decidedly French flair. You can enjoy New Orleans-style beignets dusted with powder sugar in the Food Court Buffet and the wrought iron balconies, attractive courtyards and quaint park for the children will have you humming your favorite jazz refrain as you kick back and take a breather from the Magic Kingdom. The large pool features a giant dragon with a water slide which children of all ages will love. There is entertainment in the bar with a bit of jazz, rockin' oldies and pop tunes which the adults will enjoy while sipping a cold beer or a mint julep. Bus service at the hotel entrance takes you to all the theme parks, water parks and other Disney resort activities. However, the best-kept secret is that at the back of the hotel, you can board a boat launch that glides down the river to the Downtown Disney and Pleasure Island shopping and entertainment areas. This is a great way to travel and the boats run every 15 minutes. So, after a day at the theme parks you can return to your hotel, take a swim to cool off, then catch your boat to Downtown Disney for dinner and shopping or to Pleasure Island to take in the clubs, bars or Cirque du Soleil ... then hop a boat for a moonlight ride back to the Port Orleans French Quarter. As they say in New Orleans, 'Laissez les bons temps rouler.'

We arrived late at night (around 1:00 a.m.), the front desk staff greeted us with their ever-bubbly Disney greeting and we were checked into our room in no time. Though the resort was crowded, it was still easy to get around and to find a chair by the pool. The bus service to and from the parks was a bit slow this time, but it is the heavy season and is to be expected. Our room was clean, however, the housekeeper had left us a half-used bottle of shampoo in the bathroom. We had two queen beds that were quite comfortable and there was plenty of space to move around the room. Our recommendation is to visit the Scat Cat Club in the evening to listen to live music by Elliot Dyson - our favorite musician at Disney World - before turning in for the night. Also, if you like ice cream, order an ice cream sandwich in the food court. You get to pick the two kinds of cookies you would like as well as the two large scoops of ice cream! Yum! We stay at this resort most often when visiting Florida and would recommend it to folks looking for a fun, yet quaint, place to stay on Disney property.

We had orginally booked a room at Port Orleans Riverside. We got to the hotel at 12 midnight and were told they had ran out of rooms and we had to be moved over to French Quater. We were furious. But it was late and we had no option but to take the other room. The room was nice and moderate (like staying at a holiday inn), but always clean. It was in good shape. The hotel is not as big as Riverside, but you've got great views! The pool is really nice, my 2 year old loved the water slide! The cafeteria is small, and has a small selection of food, but its quite nice. The staff is really nice and they give away bead neckleces and candy ring pops to children. Transportation is great! The waits on buses is no longer than 5 minutes and there's a boat ride (with georgeous views along the way) that takes you from the hotel to Downtown Disney! We recommend this hotel! Although our stay started out a little rocky we don't regret the change to this much small hotel. Everything seems to be close by.
