  We stayed Dec. 26-28th. The price was very reasonable considering the location. Conveniently within walking distant of the historic district. The room was very dated and not very clean. Our feet turned black from walking on the carpeting in the room. Rust came out of the faucets in the bath tub and sink. The first night we saw a cockroach on our nightstand, so kept our luggage in the car. In retrospect, we decided that in the future, we would pay a higher rate for a better quality room. Loved St. Augustine and hope to return.

  My wife and I spent a weekend here for the annual British Night Watch weekend. bathroom was small, but otherwise very satisfied. beds were comfortable. room had a microwave, coffee maker, small fridge. For the amount of time we were in the hotel, this worked great for us. only 1/2 mile from historic downtown- a nice, easy walk.

  When you come in to florida they offer travel savers with coupons for hotels. this hotel does not give you that price so don't fall for it they will charge you full price for a room they don't not honor there coupons.

  When you come in to florida they offer travel savers with coupons for hotels. this hotel does not give you that price so don't fall for it they will charge you full price for a room they don't not honor there coupons.

  Our trip was a last minute plan. We were able to get a room (where alot of other places didn't have any rooms), and we got a last minute deal on the price that was excellent!!!! We couldn't have done better if we planned it for weeks!!! Howard Johnsons is the only hotel in St. Augustine that both trolly tour companies stop at. We got on in the morning and off when we were done in the afternoon. It is conviently located close to most of the sightseeing places that most tourist want to visit, alot of which are within walking distance. The staff was very helpful with all our questions about places to see, and directions on how to get to there. The pool was smallish but still nice, not croweded at all (most people were out exploring the city). The rooms are clean and we were all comfortable. We thouroughly enjoy our last minute trip to St. Augustine and are already planning another one (but we'll stay longer next time, 2 days wasn't enough time!!!). We are planning on staying at Howard Johnsons again!! It was just by chance that we stayed there the first time but it could not have been a more perfect place to stay.
