Because of a great price and a landmark location, we decided on the Lani Kai. From the start, the staff was wonderfully accommodating. They allowed an early check in, and was even considerate enough to give us a room farthest from the live music, so that our two young sons could sleep at night. The rooms, while spartan, are clean and sand-free, until we tracked sand in. (Besides, we don't stay in a beach resort to sit in a room).And the view off the balcony at sunset was spectacular. The beach was groomed every morning resulting in fluffy sand, and my 6 year old proved to an audience of over 100 people there are large snook (a local prized game fish) right off the sand. Live music all afternoon kept the atmosphere lively. What was really appreciated was the bohemian feel of the place, with locals anchoring their boats just inside the sandbar. It didn't feel like a tourist trap, but rather like a local secret. Growing up in Ft. Myers, I was a little hesitant to bring my young family to the “Party Spot” of the beach. My fears were completely unfounded. Though the vibrant feeling of the Kai was still there, there was absolutely no absurd rowdiness or roughness. On the contrary, most of the other guests and all of the staff had friendly waves and hellos as my young sons zoomed around. The dinner buffet was good enough that a 4 and 6 year old never once asked for MacDonalds, even though the golden arches are just across the street. With a Hooters just up the beach, and Times Square a very romantic evening walk just down the beach, the location was perfect. We can't wait until our next visit (probably in the next month or so).

We live here in Ft Myers and everytime we need a quick getaway we go to the Lani Kai. We have never been dissapointed. You don't have to leave the property. They have everything right there. We find the staff to be very friendly and the room big and clean.

I will come back for sure.. This place is one of a kind. Room right on the water, Rooftop Restaurant with swinging benches., Beach Bars with live music and beach contests... A real hotspot on Ft Myers Beach. The place was clean. The help was nice except for the waitress which was not very good. .. Great music Great Time.

If your 21 and you don't mind the walls thumping with loud music until 2am.... then this is the place for you. Perfect for spring break BUT not perfect for a nice family ""get away""........ If I had only paid $$ for the night it wouldn't have been bad..... but $$$ ... are you kidding ???? UGH!!!!

Not the place for a quiet, romantic getaway!

If you want to party non-stop and do not care about quality, cleanliness, maintenance, or sleep...this is the place for you! The music blasts virtually nonstop from 11am to 2am, then it takes until about 3am for all the partygoers to get out from under your window and down the hall to their rooms. Unless of course they are mad and stand in the hall yelling at each other (which happened 2 of the 4 nights we stayed). There is absolutely no way to escape this. The noise comes thru the walls and doors even with the air conditioner running. No lock on the patio door and bathroom door is a bypass door with no lock and little privacy. To be fair, the view is fantastic and the location is great, but if you are looking for a quiet, romantic place on the beach..........this isn't it!
