  What a dump! Staff was rude at check in. The gentleman working in the liquor store next door was more concerned with our stay than the front desk was. The hotel is placed upon a night club where we woke up to a fist fight outside our window at 4am. There was cobwebs in the corner of the rooms and the headboard of the bed fell off the wall as it was hanging on the wall like a picture frame does. At check out our friends were packing up 5 minutes after check out time and recived a very loud knock threatening an additional night charge if they didn't check out right away. Skip this dump. You're better off at a hostile.

  What a dump! Staff was rude at check in. The gentleman working in the liquor store next door was more concerned with our stay than the front desk was. • Within Walking Distance of Everything, At an Unbeatable Price

  We could not have had a nicer stay or a nicer room for the very reasonable price of $129.00 (plus taxes) per night (AAA membership special, with 2 queen beds). Although the room size was cozy, it was not cramped and we loved the new, firm beds, warm stylish decor, and beautiful updated bathroom. The only thing better than the price at this hotel, is the location, which is just a 10 minute walk from the ferry landing (we took the Coho from Port Angeles). We did not need to bring our car over, because everything we wanted to do was a short walk from our hotel. Royal London Wax Museum was our favorite (kind of campy, kitschy entertainment - you're not going to learn anything about the string theory of the universe). There is also a very nice gallery style mall 2 blocks from the hotel, which kept my teenager happy bargain hunting for a couple of hours. For a really delicious Italian lunch or dinner (or brunch on Sundays), walk 2 blocks to Pagliacci's. They don't take reservations (unless your party is 6 or more), so arrive early ahead of the crowd. It's worth it. The Strathcona is a great value in a great location -- it's definitely where we will stay next time we go to Victoria.
