This is the 4th time we have stay at this condo in the past 6 years. It was clean and the staff very accomodating. We had room 806 and if you're smart you'll request this room. Ocean view from both the bedroom and the living room. What more could you want. PJ the conceriege was fabulous. He even remembered us days later. What was really great is that there were nearly no kids at this resort. I am not an old fogey but no kids fit my style. It doesn't have all the frills that other hotels may have but it make up for that with plus green lawns and foliage. It has a 2 great pools and 2 great hot tubs, but if you don't want to see kids this is the place to stay.

We purchased a vacation package to Hawaii that was to include the 5th night free and a $100 food & beverage credit. Upon arrival at the hotel, management would not uphold the two specials. They attempted (after urging) to contact the travel company but were advised that we must contact them. We spent 4 hours (during our honeymoon) speaking to several individuals to attempt to get the hotel to uphold the package. Our confirmation says that "The travel company will work with the hotel to solve any issues". In this case the travel company did not work with the hotel, we were forced to handle the situation. We were eventually provided the $100 room credit , no thanks to hotel management, and received a room credit but believe it was not handled in an acceptable manner. In addition to this issue we were completely unsatisfied with the hotel accomodation that we booked. Cockroaches were present, the oven was broken and maintainence spent quite some time in our room fixing a water leak. The hotel also suggested that we take a time share tour to save $100. Do not do it, it was awful.

We stayed a week with our 11 month old son in a 1 bedroom not facing the garden. It is not the fanciest hotel in Maui, but it isn't the most expensive either. We were in an updated suite and loved it. Everyone was polite, the hotel was clean and well kept. Housekeeping comes in daily to change towels, take out trash and make the beds, they are not a maid and do not clean up your kitchen mess and strip the beds daily, which I wouldn't expect anyhow. The restaurant is decently priced and in line with other prices on the island, they are quick and the food is good. The 2 pools and 2 hot tubs were always clean and ready for use. There is a huge 'sunning' lawn which is perfect for tanning, playing with kids or letting little ones crawl around by themselves. There is a 'Hawaiian review' on Wednesday evenings at the beach pool which is pretty neat to take the little ones to. The airconditioning turns off if you have the Lanai doors open, it isn't broken, read the literature about the room and most of the complaints you see on this site are answered. There are a bunch of activities for kids ages 5-12. The location is amazing. 5 minute to Lahaina, 5 minutes to Napili, 30 minutes to the Kahului airport. The beach is sandy, clean and not overly crowded like further south on Ka'anapali. This resort is more of a family oriented place, people looking for a romantic get away need to either pay a little more for a fancier resort or deal with the fact that it is a very plain, decently priced, clean complex. Bottom line, I would return there in a heartbeat with my family.

I couldn't believe what we were getting for the cost. We were upgraded for whatever reason from 2-1 bedroom units to 2-2bedroom units. Our family of 6 adults and 2 children had a wonderful time with not a single complaint. The staff was very friendly and helpful and willing to go beyond what was expected of them to provide comfort and assistance. The activities desk personnel couldn't have been more accommodating and informative, we had some great excursions. The rooms and the grounds were all about comfort and serenity. We're planning another trip with friends in march of 2011 and won't think of staying anywhere else! The rooms were clean and comfortable and having a washer and dryer right in the unit was fantastic as we were traveling with young children. We've never had a more peaceful, relaxing, and enjoyable family vacation. Mahalo and Aloha!!

We stayed 2 wonderful weeks at Kaanapali Shores and loved every minute of it. We stayed on the newly renovated 7th floor with an ocean view. The room was great, decorated in Hawaiian themes. Everything you needed to cook was available in the kitchen and it's really nice having your own washer and dryer inside. The food at the restaurant was surprisingly local which I was hoping for; and tasty with very large portions. Although it's not at the ritzier Westin or Marriot down at Whalers Village I enjoyed it even more because it's away from all the crowds down their. If you like the crowds, stay down towards Whalers Village resorts. If you want sit back and enjoy the quietness and the beauty, stay at the Shores. Also, I have 3 children and they loved every moment there especially the 2 pools that they could swim in at night. I highly recommend this resort especially families with children. We already have it marked on the calender to return next July.
