We arrived in Nanaimo on the first ferry from Vancouver and were able to get an early check-in at 8:30am at no extra-charge. The staff were friendly and helpful with sights and attractions in the area. The hotel is in a good location near the waterfont of Nanaimo (right next to a white-spot) - walking distance from the bus-depot and 2-min taxi-ride to the local mall. The rooms were clean and nicely furnished (for the price) and not out-dated. The complimentary breakfast was good, they had a good selection to choose from and staff in the breakfast room were continually ensuring that everything was replenished. The only bad thing I could say about my stay was the guests in the room above made bit of noise in the morning and you could hear this through the roof of our room. I had an enjoyable stay here and would definately stay again!

We arrived in Nanaimo on the first ferry from Vancouver and were able to get an early check-in at 8:30am at no extra-charge. I recently stayed at Travelodge in Nanaimo. It was well located, I just drove through town and saw their sign. The staff was very friendly and showed me several rooms before I decided which I wanted. I had a nice big room with a balcony overlooking the city and water. The beds were very comfy (pillow-topped, I checked), and everything was freshly painted and clean. The continental breakfast in the morning was amazing, although it was over at 10am, so not much time for sleeping in. We took a walk along the Seawall before check out at noon, and again the staff was friendly and efficient for check out. I even got HBC points! Nicely re-done older hotel with character, great staff and more then average amenities. I would stay here again.

On the surface the hotel looks good - new carpet, countertops and tiles - but once you look closer, it is gross. Our 'non-smoking' room and my inlaws room reaked of smoke. They allow smoking on the balcony of the room (evidenced by a can of sand for cigarette butts) so how can they expect the smoke to not come in through the slider? The bathtub had a cigarette burn on it and when I showered the cigarette smell really came out.
When I pulled back the bed cover, there was some brown gunk on the inside of it. This wasn't an old stain but actual stuff approximately two inches long by 1/2 inch wide. I would have switched hotels right then but I had an overtired child and two older inlaws in another room. The bottom sheet wasn't big enough to fit the bed so it pulled out from the sides and got balled up and lumpy beneath me while I slept. The sheet also had a hole in it.
To top it all off, we asked for a 5:45 wake up call that never came. Luckily my husband woke up or we could have missed our ferry.
The hotel was a disgusting experience!!!
