We really were amazed at how nice this Comfort Suites is. We always stay at Hilton or Marriott but we read about this place and decided to take a chance. The hotel gives you the feeling of being in a resort in Mexico. You really experience the Hispanic Architecture and design within the hotel. The staff was amazing and gave excellent recommendations as well as made my restaurant reservations at Boudros Restaurant. Wow! The pool was heated with a beautiful waterfall. The Breakfast was so good and had healthy items for my family like fresh fruit, wheat breads, lite yogurts, and my favorite..BLUEBERRY WAFFLES SHAPED LIKE TEXAS. They even had soy milk available upon request. The beds were so comfortable and we had two queen beds and a sleeper sofa so all my kids had space in the same room with us. There was even a refrigerator to put our food left over from the restaruant and a microwave to warm it up again. The best part was the rates...it was affordable. It is about 3 blocks from all the restaruants, mall, ALAMO and the Beautiful Riverwalk. The parking was great because is is covered and the cars are in the shade so your car does not get hot and the City Trolley picked up right in front of the hotel that goes all over the downtown. The best place I stayed in the last 10 years. ....I think it is because the people there are so nice and make you feel special. I will recommend this hotel to everyone I know.

This hotel is NOT on the river-walk and to get to the historic district you have to navigate some scary neighborhoods. I do not recommend this hotel for other single travelers. The hotel staff was friendly, but they were having maintenance issues with their elevator and my room had some problems that the staff took care of promptly. The lobby decor is enchanting, the pool is a long rectangle carefully enclosed in a privacy fence. If you know what to expect - it's a good place as a group; just not if you are traveling alone.

We booked this hotel for a one night stay to see a show at the Alamo Dome. Were led to believe that riverwalk was nearby/walking distance. The building and rooms are nice, but this hotel is dead in the middle of a homeless tent city! There were vagrants everywhere and I felt completely unsafe to walk anywhere. Terrible location! I was worried all night that our car would be broken into. Nice hotel and comfortable beds, but not risking staying in such a sketchly location ever again!

The rooms are nice but the ammenities are not so great. The dinning area is large but only a few tables to sit at and there isn't enough equipment to prepare your breakfast. Two waffle irons and one toaster just doesn't cut it for the number of people staying there. We spent 30 minutes in line to cook a couple of waffles. They aslo need to get more help with the food at breakfast time, one person could not keep up.The pool and work out room were a disappointment. The pool is only 3.5 feet deep and the gym only had enough equipment for two people at a time. More money should have been spent on the ammenities. Also, what's up with the ugly hole below the sink for the drain? This looks horrible for an upscaled hotel.
