    You could stay inside the Mandalay Bay complex and never need to leave, it has just about everything. THE Hotel is an all suites hotel that is extremely comfortable and allows you to escape and catch your breath after the normal excesses of Las Vegas. Very helpful staff, excellent range of resturants and the home of The House of Blues!. The only possible down side is that if you want to go to the centre of the strip you really need a taxi or use the overhead rail to get there. Its just a few minutes but that could make a difference for some people.

    My only real complaint is that the TVs are very outdated, with limited channel selection. Room was great, staff was great. Really like that you can get to front desk and rooms from the valet/taxi/parking without having to go through the casino.

    The floor to ceiling windows made for a great view. It was also very nice that it had 2 bathrooms. the be was comfortable too. I do wish the bat tub was a Jacuzzi tub, but I guess you can't have everything.

    After several stays at Mandalay Bay and great review from friends in the past, we decided to stay at THEhotel on a family-themed vacation in Vegas. We were not only disappointed with the room itself, but also the hotel as a whole. Start with the check-in area that was insufficiently staffed, meaning that even though we were 3rd in line, it took 20 minutes before we could even check-in. Then walking along the hallway to our room, I noticed several room-service trays that hadn't been picked up (and weren't for at least 1-1/2 days). Outside of our door was a giant piece of broken glass (essentially one side of a water glass). I moved it to the side, but during our 4 day stay, it was never removed by housekeeping. When we finally got into our room, we were truly underwhelmed. The decor was not especially modern (or new), and there was no closet (just a small armoire with a safe making 1/2 of it unusable for hanging things like shirts and pants...). So there was nowhere to put half our clothes or the suitcases. There were also sound issues. For example, when the air conditioner turned on, it sounded like the engine or our plane was being started right next to us. At night, you couldn't escape the sound of the MIXX nightclub and poolside concerts. Internet was free, but you had to log in several times each day. But worst was the king-sized bed. I've had mattresses that range from firm to soft, but none were as completely lacking in support as this one. It's as if a hippo had slept on my side of the bed for a few weeks and left a permanent depression. And they provided only 2 small pillows with little or no substance to them. It was so bad, we almost switched hotels (despite pre-paying for the room). I was in pain the entire weekend thanks to this poor excuse for bedding. Then, our 2 favorite restaurants were completely sold out for Sunday night (our only full-family night), so we had to go to another resort (which was fine - plenty of restaurants in Sin City - just annoying). I did love the wave pool (as did my nephews, more importantly). And the gym was nice, if industrial in design (not really matching the rest of THEdecor. Overall, it reconfirmed that you get what you pay for. We have gravitated towards the Palazzo over the last few years, and we will be sure to return there in the future, leaving THEhotel behind as a bad memory.
