i read the fellow reviews before choosing the aqua palms. after the fancy hotels, this place is the best of the rest. the rest consists of some real dumps. i've stayed in them with my family - 4 people in a honolulu jail cell watching and living hawaii five-0 in the '70s. two people have enough room. a full family - you're flipping a coin (usually double-sided). waikiki is las vegas without casinos but with a beach. these hotels were being built up in the '60's and '70s when hawaii was in her sweetspot for travelers. those days are gone but the hotels are still here and are designed to accomidate the masses. so they'll be small for the most part. the fancy hotels have better beds and larger rooms with better views. this hotel was fine except the key cards are unreliable and the beds are firm. the staff is good. minifridge and utencils in room. the night attendant is awesome. good surfing straight out past the hilton's lagoon. 24hr. coffee shop and lounge next door. abc store (food/drinks) open until 11PM close too. location is at the west end of waikiki beach next to harbor. bus (19,20) goes directly from airport (upper-level) to across the street of aqua palms (no big suitcases on bus). get a rental if you go outside honolulu/waikiki. buses take too long. have a great time.

This hotel was clean, had a friendly staff, BUT the location was terrible if you like the beach or Waikiki night life. Everywhere we went we would have to take a cab or walk 4 blocks to the hilton hawawian hotel where you would pay $*. to rent a beach umbrella and $*. for a drink. Waikiki beach is about 2 miles ($* cab ride each way). There is no smoking even on the balconies and they have smoking cops trying to catch you and charge you $*. if they do. We paid the upgrade to have a view of Diamond Head and the ocean of which we saw about an inch of the top of each. Maybe better on higher floors. The pool was extremely small and was only 4 ft deep. The breakfast consisted of Green bananas, green apples, and raisen muffins and watery orange juice. However if you are 75 years old and want to hang at the hotel all day this is the place for you.

  • Room was awful, staff ok.

We had a "triple" room which I thought meant we would have towels, robes and ROOM for three people. No way. We had to walk around the beds sideways as the room was so tightly jammed with wardrobe, desk, table & chairs, microwave/fridge stand. The bath had a tub but no faucet! The toilet had no cover on the seat, there was no place to set things in the bathroom, the sink was pedestal. Not enough places to hang towels. The staff was generally helpful and good w/directions. However, the vending machines had run out of water so we went down to the front desk to obtain water and they CHARGED us for it! They had given it to us for free when we checked in, so we were a bit shocked. We were all disappointed. The parking garage was very cramped -most times we had to back up and carefully maneuver to make a corner safely. The value for our money was terrible.

This hotel was in a great location...a short walk and you were on the beach. The staff were friendly and helpful and the concierge was very helpful when booking tours.

The pool was lacking but we were on the beach most of the time. It is quite small. The fitness center is not a center but a room with equipment shoved in it and some of it was broken.

The continental breakfast was lacking. No cereal, bagels or toast. Not even any tropical fruit. Expect juice, lousy coffee, sweet bread and bananas.

    The elevators are slow.

That's it in a nutshell. I would definitely stay there again.

IIresearched all of the hotels in Oahu and decided upon the Aqua Palms. It fit perfectly into our butget. The location was great. Only a short walk across the street to the beach and much costlier Hilton Hawain Village. I didn't expect much and got much more than I expected. The hotel offerred a free upgrade upon check in.Our room was located immediately across from the pool, fitness center and spa. It was a one bedroom suite. Gorgeous and spotless. There was a full livingroom with a pull out sofabed, a huge kitchen with granite counter tops, dining table, refrigrator, dishwasher and dishes , plus a seperate bedroom. Maid service was efficient as well as the hotel front desk and staff. The continental breakfast was indeed small but was a good pick-me up and got us out the door in the morning. A great restaurant right next to the hotel illiminates the need for anything else. We stayed for 4 nights and the bill including parking was less than $*. Great deal, great location, wonderful room. I'd go back and stay there anytime. It was indeed paradise!!I
