My room was a basic King remodeled and I was quite satisfied with everything My room didn't have a soaking tub or jets but that's probably something reserved for the more upscale rooms. The balconies are shared but you can close the curtains for privacy. A quiet floor (tower 2 / 4th floor) The prices for meals there are very high with a $16 continental breakfast that I declined to purchase. Many many restaurAnt choices next door in the Japan center

The hotel's excellent Japan town location trumps a lot of other challenges I've encountered when staying at this hotel. These challenges have ranged from the major- serious non-stop Animal House party noise from the adjacent room until 2:30 AM- to the relatively minor-scratched, chipped and stained furniture, walls and bedding. Check-in is usually fine. Personal are generally efficient, pleasant and professional. Most of the public spaces are tasteful and well-maintained. (The hotel's dingy elevators being the main exception.) Over all, The Hotel Kabuki provides a friendly, low key, convenient option for a San Francisco stay. Just mind that at times this hotel can be a bit rough 'round the edges.

I always stay at the Kabuki because it is so well located in the heart of Japantown and just a short block to the restaurants and shops of Fillmore Street. A quick bus ride Geary takes you to downtown SF in a matter of minutes. I love the Japanese aesthetics, the serene atmosphere and polite staff.
