I found the room to be quite adequate for my needs, though it was small relative to many American (though not European) alternatives. The location, within a couple blocks of Union Square and just off Market Street, is excellent for both walking and public transportation (and is quite close to the downtown car rental agencies). The staff was very helpful and gracious.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Abri. The staff was incredibly warm and welcoming, not to mention accommodating. We had reserved a king size bed, but when we checked in they didn't have any available so they upgraded us to a suite for no extra charge! This was a huge relief because with all the reviews we read before booking our trip, a common theme in San Fransisco is small hotel rooms. Our friends were staying at the Hilton down the street from us and they told us their room was smaller than most of their closets at home. I can't comment on the size of the standard rooms at Abri, but if you can upgrade to a suite at a minimal charge I would recommend doing so...it was nice to have the extra space. The staff was also very knowledgeable when it came to things to do in the city and gave us some great recommendations. One of those recommendations was for a wine tasting boat tour around the bay by San Fransisco Bay Boat Cruises , which turned out to be one of the best things we did during our stay! Actually more fun than our Napa Trip! The only negative I would have to say about Hotel Abri and it really isn't a negative is that the Union Square area is very busy with tourists, locals, and bums (lots of bums, but that appears to be a San Fransisco thing). If you are looking for a location that is more low-key I would suggest looking elsewhere. Our room was on the third floor and without having a few cocktails before hitting the sack, it might have been difficult to fall asleep with all the street noise. However, if you are looking for a very clean and new boutique hotel in the heart of the action (with a great staff), Hotel Abri is definitely the one for you!

The room was clean and fairly modern inside. The building is older of course and some street noise can be heard in the room. This is especially true on the lower floors where I stayed. This is really my only minor complaint.

Hotel is in a great location. Close to everything! Beds were comfy and staff was helpful. The rooms are super small. I knew they were going to be small but they really are very tiny, barely enough room to maneuver luggage around the bed. The biggest complaint I have is that the elevators went out, and we were on the 5th floor. This was aggravating especially after walking around all day. Overall, convenient, cute, cozy hotel. I would stay here again.

We chose Hotel Abri based on location and price. Previously we have stayed at The Adagio however they are currently under remodel which didn't sound very appealing. The location of The Hotel Abri in Union Square is close to everything. The parking is reasonable for the area at $35 per night with unlimited use. We parked it for our entire stay and walked most places, though it was easy to grab a cab or walk to the BART or trolley from there as well. The staff was very friendly, knowledgable and helpful. From the lobby to the room the hotel was clean. Though the quarters were a little tight it was more than comfortable and also quiet. It was a good value for the price and we may have been converted from the Adagio to the Abri. That's saying something b/c we really like/d Adagio.
