My wife and I were staying in San Francisco for 1 night and wanted to be close to some nightlife as possible. We found the Palomar to be perfect for this and at the rate we paid, were very pleased. I would recommend this establishment to others.

Great location
11/15/2011This hotel was conveniently located to shopping and entertainment, and the room was clean and nicely decorated. valet parking was available which is most appreciated in san francisco.

Beautiful, quiet room. Comfortable bed. Nice minibar selection including an intimacy kit, which came in handy. Convenient location. Friendly doorman and generally good service everywhere. Good breakfast room service. I would definitely return to this hotel. Loved it! (Also, the lounge on the fifth floor is fabulous.)

We stayed here after trying out the Kimpton's Hotel Monaco right around the corner a few months earlier, having enjoyed that. In short: modern décor, comfortable beds, friendly staff, free wifi if you sign up for their rewards program, ample storage (closets and drawers, in sharp contrast to the Clift in SF), and pet friendly. Downsides were all minor and not deal-breakers: limited and pricy room service menu (although it is 24 hour), expensive valet (endemic to most SF hotels), and, if you have a dog, there is no grassy place near the hotel to potty them (again, not a problem unique to this hotel).

When we checked in, we determined that the booking agent had inexplicably cancelled my reservation. The Hotel Palomar staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Luckily they had available rooms. Little touches like free ice cream and wine reception added to the service and a nice coffee bar in the mornings complete with soy milk. The courtyard rooms are nice and quiet and single King is small but large enough to not feel cramped. Decor is nice, beds are very comfortable. Showers are nice and strong, and I suppose because they have such good water flow people stay in a long time. This is problematic because there isn't a fan in the bathroom which could cause mildew and it looked like there had been water on the ceiling. Otherwise a great stay in the middle of everything.
