I liked the ambience of the hotel, kindof retro 50's luxury looking- playing showtunes all the time; small cozy bar with fireplace serving meals at night. No sort of breakfast offering-only teas and coffee though there's a starbucks diagonally across the street and a lori's diner a few doors down. Convenient to the Powell street muni and cable car (if you can wait that long to get on it). Some noise emanating from Powell street but all in all I'd recommend and stay there again.
